You may wish to substitute rotisserie for 2-3 chicken breasts. If not, add chicken to the bottom of the Crock Pot before adding soups. Remove and shred chicken at the time you add the noodles. If you can find cream of chicken with herb, it's a great addition.

Ingredients

  • Chicken – Depending on how much you want to make, you’ll need 1-2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe.
  • Liquids – I used cream of chicken soup and chicken broth to create the liquid base for the chicken and noodles. Cream of celery might be an option as well but it will cut down on some of that chicken flavor.
  • Noodles – You can use any noodles you like, but I would recommend avoiding spaghetti or angel-hair type of pastas. I prefer to use egg noodles when I make Crock Pot chicken and noodles.
  • Other ingredients – This recipe also calls for salt, pepper, garlic powder, and butter.

Tips for The BEST Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles

  • Don’t pre-cook the chicken – Technically, you can cook the chicken ahead of time, but it is meant to slow cook over several hours from raw. If you do decide to cook the chicken before placing everything in the Crock Pot, you will need to adjust the slow cooker time significantly.
  • Use dry noodles – No need to pre-soak or boil your noodles! Toss them straight from the bag or box into the Crock Pot and allow them to cook with the rest of your ingredients. I always make sure that the noodles, especially when dry, are completely submerged while cooking so that they soak up all of the moisture and flavors. Wide egg noodles are a good choice, too!
  • Avoid mushy noodles – You don’t want to put the noodles in too soon or cook them for too long. If your noodles seem to be getting mushy, that is a sign that they are ready to come out of the Crock Pot!
  • Add vegetables – Adding onions, carrots, corn and even more fresh herbs is a simple way to take the flavor to a whole new level! I think that adding thyme, rosemary, and fresh parsley sounds amazing also.

Can you put cream of chicken in crockpot?

Directions. Place chicken breasts in a slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix the cream of chicken soup and cream of celery soup until smooth Pour over the chicken, making sure it is well coated. Cover, and cook on Low heat for 7 to 8 hours.

What can I add to my chicken soup to give it flavor?

Seasoning the Soup: If you feel the soup is missing some zing, add a bit more salt. You can also add a pop of flavor with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, a dash of fish sauce (we use this trick for store-bought stocks and broths often) or Worcestershire sauce.

How do you thicken up chicken noodle soup?

Add Flour Or Cornstarch You can thicken soup by adding flour, cornstarch, or another starchy substitute. For the best results, never add flour or cornstarch directly to your soup. If you do, it will clump up on top. Instead, ladle a small amount of broth into a separate bowl and let it cool.

Why do you add lemon juice to chicken soup?

Lemons are a chicken soup game changer. Why? They brighten up and balance the salty, rich flavors of the dish, and make all of the ingredients come into line. Like a vinaigrette on a salad, the pickle on a burger, and the sour cream in a coffee cake, a squeeze of lemon gives chicken soup a game-changing brightness.
