I saw somebody on tv with purple hair and suddenly had to have it. I ordered the color Purple Rain and besides smelling like a purple sucker I really like the product. The first time I hid a tiny streak in the back under the rest of my hair. You could only see it when I wore my hair up. I got so many complements that each time I added more until I got to what you see in my photos. The process is a bit messy but I’ve spent the past 40 years watching hairdressers put highlights into my hair so I knew how to do it. I used a bowl and a thick makeup brush and wrapped the streaks in foil. Left it on for 30 min. I also used gloves and wiped up spills right away as it stains surfaces. After these photos I put some streaks next to my face which I don’t like as they’re too bright. I’ve scrubbed them half a dozen times trying to get the stuff to lighten up but it really adheres to my light gray hair.I’ve just ordered Virgin Pink and the diluter and can’t wait to try it!

The context: I'm a level 2 natural dark brunette who's been lightening my hair over the past 3 years with balayage treatments, going slow to avoid destruction of my hair, but ultimate goal has always been a rose-gold ombre balayage. I've mostly used permanent dye in darker shades of pink (Ion Permanent Brights in Flamingo, i.e.) and then let it fade out with washes to achieve the shade I truly want, which only lasts maybe 2-3 weeks in the end before I have to start over again with true flamingo pink. I've tried this dye hoping to just get the washed out pink gold that I want right out of the gate.

The good: this gives me just a bit less pink than I expected, but it's a shade that gets me tons of compliments from others and is spot-on for what I want.

The bad: I hate that the semi-permanent dyes wash out so soon! Also hate having to wash and dry my hair before application (what a pain!). Also didn't love the heat application process - I used a plastic cap and held part of it away from my head and blow-dried inside for as long as I could stand. Would be easier with a hair drier cap with tube attached (not sure what they're called?).

Ultimately, I'll probably end up making this my new go-to. Maybe I'll try to amp it up with a bolder shade and hope it lasts longer. Ugh, beauty is pain ;)

I wanted dark purple hair for Halloween and AF got such good reviews I decided to try it. I am not willing to commit to fully bleaching my hair, but I do get highlights in the salon.
I followed the directions(including heating my hair for 15 min) and was so impressed by how well the dye took! Very dark and vibrant. Obviously the highlights were more vibrant. I’ve tried other brands and they never took this well. Also I like the packaging. Don’t have to scoop it out of a jar.

I’ve gotten so much positive feedback that I’ve been working to keep the color. I wash every other day and it’s faded nicely. Obviously I have my highlight timeline so I plan to wash the dye out by then.
I’m having so much much fun with this color I may try other shades in the future!

Has the typical cherry candy smell of all Arctic Fox products. My boyfriend asked why my hair was fruity. You need bleached hair at a level nine or ten for vibrant yellow, or it will lean more towards orange-ish yellow. My hair is only on it's first process with the ends being lighter than the middle so it created a mixed tone.

It starts fading after about 2-3 washes depending on the harshness of your shampoo, and your rinse temperature (always wash and rinse hair in cold water to make color last longer).

Pro tip, cover your sink with a towel you don't mind staining, wear gloves to apply and rinse off as well. I recommend this with all hair dye. If you get it on your skin, rub gently with nail polish remover on a cotton ball, takes it right off. This works for sinks and tubs too if you use it fresh. Make sure to use some petroleum jelly on your hairline and anywhere you don't want to stain your skin. Use a plastic hair cap to allow it to develop better and not dry out during processing.

I dyed my hair for a costume. I have about six inches of natural growth and the rest of my hair has been bleached professionally and I have dyed over it numerous times in all different colors. The black lasted about four washes for me. The previously bleached portions turned dark purple and my natural hair looks fairly black still. After four more washes, there is about an inch between the bleached portion and natural hair where it looks like it’s turning green. Overall, I am very happy about it bc I wasn’t ready to commit to black yet and I love the purple it turned into.

I have reddish hair, probably maybe a 5 or a little lighter maybe on those hair charts that don't show any red tints.
Using Purple Rain, my hair is a nice purple in good lighting, not super vibrant since I didn't bleach it. In dim lighting it just has a more darker, brown-black look which also looks good.

Rinsed out the dye for 1/2 an hour, thought I had it all. Couple hours later undid my hair from the tshirt wrap I had it in and combed it, hand was then purple so I rinsed another 1/2 hour, and let it dry, went ot bed. Today, I've had to rinse it again but far less dye came out. Using cold water each time.

My hair is really long to/slightly-past my natural waist line, I didn't dye 100% of my hair, intented to dye just sort of halfway up but it kind of didn't go that way and I might as well have dyed it all and may just use the remaining dye to finish off the top of my head so I don't look like I just didn't bother finishing the whole thing off. I wanted my natural hair to still be showing but that didn't really work out as planned. Hard to dye my hair w/o glasses on and no one there to tell me just how high up did the dye just go on the back of my head.

If you're dying your hair with Purple Rain, I'd recommend not drinking the berry version in the black bottle of Body Armour electrolyte drink at the same time. They smell the same, and somehow, it's just sort of gross. (The drink is amazing, just... not when the dye is also on my head and then I'm drinking something that smells the same, nearly choked it up out my nose)

My hair looks cool though, and I wish I could find a non-harsh way to easily lighten my hair that wasn't hydrogen peroxide, lemon-in-the-sun (and not 80's spray in stuff either), or actual bleach kits. I did do two honey/cardamom rounds but I'm not real sure if those actually held out from the time I did them to the time I dyed my hair, there was about a month gap. I really want to do pink and blue but I don't think those will work on my hair at all, especially not the brightness I am after. My asthma won't be able to handle the smell of chemical bleaching.

I've no idea what "Drying Power" in the rating means, it did not dry my hair out at all, but myhair is not dry to start with, it's just normal. So I rated that a 1. Did not rate longevity, I only dyed it yesterday, still rinsing out excess dye so I can tell you it requires a whole lot of rinsing.

I saw all kinds of YT comments saying how they never have to rinse their hair much, but I noticed those are all on pastel type videos. Kind of wonder if people are really not having to rinse and maybe my hair just doesn't absorb the dye, I use sulfate free shampoo no conditioner or anything prior. Or if they just don't see the dye running off because it's pastel, where as this purple rain is pretty easy to see until the end when it's kind of hard to tell is it the sink that's faintly purple or the water. I quit when paper towels patted on my hair stayed white, so I don't know why I have to keep going back to re-rinse it. No idea where the dye is coming from.

I have ME so energy is very low, honestly this was exhausting in every way, but seeing as I don't need to wash my hair as often as I used to before becoming ill, hopefully the color will last a while. Dying long thick hair is a lot of work it turns out. If anyone has any non-harsh ways of lightening lvl 5 reddish-brown hair, that won't hopefully set off asthma I'd love to know, even if it's just keeping at the honey method if that really does work I'll keep at it. I want pink and turquoise hair so much :)

I was kind of weary when hair was wet, it was dark and no shine, but getting used to the color now and it is much better dry. If you get it on your hands or spots on the vanity you can remove with nail polish remover no rubbing just wipe or use q tips. I have gone from different color purple and lavender now blue I always get a shock the first time I change color but after hair is dry and set i love it. Use as directed I left it for 1 hour my hair is completely white so i did not use lightener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!

Love this! I bleached to a copper colour (it was literally the colour of the wall behind me in the pictures) and used this (aquamarine) to achieve a darker teal/peacock green type of colour and it worked very well. The colour stays lovely for weeks on too. I do my colour every 6-8 weeks to keep it vibrant ( wash my hair twice a week ) and tbh this is the best semi permanent colour I've ever used. Got so many compliments too. For a reference my hair is fairly thick, layered and about 7 inches below the shoulders and the 4oz bottle is plenty to generously cover the whole head.

Works well, used a couple of times now and really like the colour, I use the purple rain, and a bit of contioner on my roots and girls night mixed with a good bit of conditioner for the rest. The only thing that could be a con is that after a couple washes I start to get white streaks through my fringe area but I think t looks quite cool when that happens.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Crazy Colour

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 13, 2021

I love the smell of this product but as for colour transference: you kinda have to have near perfect Bleached hair/ salon professional bleach hair thats lightened to a 10/Platinum blonde for really really good results. I have home-bleached (but Ive been doing it 10+ yrs so I know what Im doing) thats around a level 9. This colour worked ok but it lacked the vibrancy or punch I know I can get from Crazy colour brand.
Pricing wise, For 1 bottle of Arctic fox, you can get a box of 4 crazy colour Candy Floss which is more or less the same colour, but with better pigmentation. Ive tried all 3/4 of the arctic fox pink colours now and I can say the only one worth investing in is the Electric Paradise colour. Mix that one with crazycolour Pinkissimo and its a DREAM.
This colour however falls short and its an expensive experiment. Seller is great cannot fault them. Just Arctic Fox in general isnt a good as good a brand in my opinion and thats coming from trying and testing their pink colours. Their Purples work well and so do their blue hues

Does Arctic Fox work on dark brown hair?

Very dark brown to black hair: You may see hints and flashes in sunlight with Arctic Fox shades like Purple Rain or Blue Jean Baby, so if you're going for subtlety without lightening these are ideal.

Can you put dark green dye over brown hair?

It's very likely that if you're a brunette, redhead, or even a darker shade of dirty blonde, you'll need to bleach your hair before applying any dye to it. Green dye can change the hue of naturally brown hair, but the color won't stand out unless you lighten the hair first.

What does Arctic Fox Phantom green Fade to?

Phantom Green is one of our darkest shades as a deep forest green. It has a strong blue undertone, so it will often fade in more of a teal or blue range over time (more on that later).

How long does Arctic Fox Phantom green last?

*Color will fade with each shampoo and may last up to 40 washes.
