Military life brings many worries and concerns. During travel, deployment, and TDYs (trainings), military families often say goodbye to loved ones and worry about their safety for a long period of time. For some military spouses, leaning on religious practices like reading holy texts, praying, or attending worship services, can help to alleviate stress and give them strength for the journey ahead.

These 60 verses come from the Christian Bible– both Old and New Testaments–and feature themes of protection and safety. Use them consecutively or choose one that speaks to you. Here are a few ways to incorporate Bible verses in your daily practices:

• Choose a few protection verses and write them on sticky notes. Leave them places that you’ll see like mirrors, the microwave door, and the refrigerator.
• Keep a journal and write one of these verses every time you journal. Even if you don’t write about the verse, the physical act of writing it will help you reflect on the meaning of the verse.
