After the player races on one of the tracks designated as a ghost track, the machine records the time, and more importantly, the players driving style. When playing ghost mode, the player may summon any ghost car. This can be done via a menu which sorts players by name and rank, and allows the player to race against an almost unlimited number of virtual opponents. What makes this a true breakthrough is that the ghost car does not always follow the the exact same path. The machine does not simply recreate a mirror of how the player did drive the track, rather it is a representation of how that player would drive it if he was sitting next to you. The ghost mode means you can even race yourself, with the ghost car automatically controlled by the computer but driven exactly like the player does for the ultimate in head to head. The ghost mode is available on 6 different tracks, with the fastest of all players awarded the crown for that stage.

Story Mode is where the original characters from the comic appear as your rivals in the story. Your mission in story mode is to race against these characters and defeat them. In addition, one of the features of this game is "Tuning (Step-Up)." Being able to tune your car (step-up) is a feature of Story Mode. In Story Mode, you first choose your rival's level, then select an opponent out of the rivals that are of the selected level. You can freely change the levels and rivals within the time limit. You win if you cross the finish line before your rivals (characters from the original comic book), and you lose if your rivals cross it before you. The game ends if the remaining time reaches zero. You have to race one-on-one or in a group of three or more depending on the story.
