Great things left for use in the room, dishes, appliances. Spa quality soaps and lotions to use. Cons:WiFi is $10 a day per device!! Not 24 hour slots actually begins and ends at specific time and then adds another day! Beach is a steep slope Into the ocean. Pros:The location was good. You could walk into town. Cons:The place is not fit for humans to breathe. It is run down and with mildew and mold everywhere- they try to cover that up with heavy perfume that gives you a headache. The place was really nasty and made us feel sick. First, we were in building 3, then we moved twice. They put us in building 1. I am not sure about building 2, but ours were horrendous. When we talked to management, they just shrugged and told us that "it floods all the time." Also, the hallways are carpeted. It is really gross. Pros:Views from the pool and restaurants inside resort Cons:No free internet, you have to pay. A little far from the main port area if you're going to walk. Pros:Cabo. Cons:My brother was landing in Cabo before I was so I added his name to the reservation A MONTH BEFORE our arrival. I received an email saying that everything was confirmed and they added his name. Great, no problem. I also called the hotel about a week before arriving just to re-confirm that he would be ok to check in without me. Still all good. Well when my brother shows up to check in, they said he couldn't and I needed to be there. This was completely what we wanted to avoid. I then had to take a pic of my ID and email the hotel saying it was ok for him to check in (when his name should have been on the reservation!!). Very inconvenient and enough for me to never book here again. Something really simple as adding a name to the reservation should have never been this complicated. Pros:The rooms were very large and luxurious. Massive pools to find a quite are of your own. Plenty of service to order drinks or food from the pool but the service was not over powering...perfect level of service in my book. Nightly show was available with option to have meal before show if wanted. Wife and I had a very good experience at the Villa del Palmar. The sister property, Villa del Arco is even a little nicer and newer than the Palmar. Would very much recommend that property slightly over the Palmar since we had a chance to visit that property also during our stay at Cabo. Cons:No complaints. Pros:This hotel was located in a wonderful location on Medano Beach with easy access to all of Cabo San Lucas' attractions. The staff was attentive to guests needs. Cons:Dated accommodations, and high pressure sales tactics from the so-called concierges who were nothing but time-share salespeople. Sketchy charging practices - examples: each guest is assessed a mandatory fee per night, as a gratuity for the hotel's staff. A request for a late checkout (2 hours past normal checkout time, following a week's stay) incurs a fee of $130. This was midweek during the low tourist season. Wifi is charged per night per device - bring a travel router. Mediocre food and beverage options. Pros:The local store on site was great, and reasonably priced items. View was good even though it wasnt a ocean view. Cons:Things I didnt like are the following: Time share being pushed on you. 5 hrs, and we said no after the first hour. Just one sale agent after another. After 4 different offices the price was cut in half. Still not a deal for me. Pros:Warm and lovely staff. Food was decent Place was clean Decent gym Fair attempts at entertainment. Cons:All bedrooms seem to lack windows to outside, therefore it felt like a stifling box. In addition, the illusion of a window were glass blocks that faced the hallway, thus at night the room was flooded with the hallway light. Murphy bed had a mattress that was like a sheet of plywood. Pros:Having been to Palmar before, we knew what to expect, so we weren't disappointed. Our service was exceptional, in fact in some areas a marked improvement from my last stay (May, 2014). Complaints that we heard from others were based on missing or inaccurate information from some third parties, not from the resort itself - so beware, if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't true! Studio rooms (some call them Junior Suites) do not have an ocean view. If that's important to you, you will have to upgrade. We never purchase the all-inclusive option, because we don't want to stay at the resort 24/7 and that's what we would have to do to make it worth the price, in my opinion. Pros:The location on the beach and so close to town and restaurants was a real plus for this facility. A small store that was reasonably priced was also a benefit. Cons:The cost of this vacation ended up being a great deal more expensive than it has in the past. The USD is doing well against the PESO, yet they simply increased the price of just about everything (especially the transportation), over the past year. The facility activities have been toned down. The poolside activities were quite fun and entertaining. Now, not so much. What is really missed is the poolside pottery painting, which is a great activity. They used to be there most days of the week, and now are limited to one or two days a week. The cost of transportation to/from the airport seems so much more difficult now. This may be a cabo problem now. Transport from the airport to the hotel can be found easily, however, the same companies don't offer return transportation. Make sure you get round trip transportation! Camino Viejo a San José Km. 0.5, 23450 Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur
