Toyota RAV4 Oil Change

A 2013 Toyota RAV4 runs on SAE 0w-20 completely synthetic oil in all climates. The oil capacity for the 4-cylinder engine is 4.6 quarts. Every 7,500 miles or one year, you should get your oil changed.

The more often you replace your oil, the longer it will last, the better your mileage and the better your engine will operate. Regular oil and filter changes remove sludge and debris from the engine. If the oil isn’t replaced regularly, your car’s engine will develop several issues. A car’s engine components will wear out as the oil becomes thinner, abrasive, and thinner with time.

Toyota has significantly different suggestions for the most recent 2019 Rav4 and upwards. The 0W-16 Synthetic engine oil is recommended for the 2.5L engine in the new Toyota RAV4. Drain plug torque is 30 ft/lbs, and the vehicle’s capacity is 4.8 quarts.

The 0W-16 refers to the oil’s thickness or viscosity at starting, w for winter, and 16 to operational temperatures. Because oil has a limited shelf life and eventually degrades, it is essential to replace it periodically.

It is recommended that the RAV4’s oil and filter be replaced every 5,000 miles or every six months, whichever comes first. Even if you’ve never done an oil change, it shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.

FAQ – Toyota RAV4 Maintenance

The transmission fluid is recommended to be changed in the 2018 Toyota RAV4 after 60,000 miles or 72 months, whichever comes first. Every 30,000 miles or 36 months, whichever comes first, you should inspect the oil for symptoms of leaking.

How much should I pay for transmission fluid change?

You should use any Dexron VI Automatic Transmission Fluid in the RAV4. If you have your transmission fluid changed by a technician, expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $110 for labor and additional components.

Is there a timing chain or belt on the Toyota RAV4?

The engine of the Toyota RAV4 utilizes a timing chain. It does not create any noise since it is encased in oil, contrary to what some people believe. They’re preferable to a belt in the long run since they’ll last as long as the engine.

So there you go, that simple reset the maintenance reminder on your RAV4. I hope this content was able to help you reset the oil maintenance light on your Toyota RAV4. Thanks so much for reading and until next time.
