you will receive a certified informational copy with the words "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" imprinted across the face of the copy. This document is primarily used for genealogy and cannot be used for identification purposes.

Birth Authorized Copy
An
authorized, certified birth certificate copy that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver's license, school registration, personal identification and other legal purposes. Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred in Los Angeles County from 1876 to present. Records are not available until 90 days after the date of event.

Birth records are available for births occurring in Los Angeles County since 1964.
If the birth occurred from 1972 to 1977, the copy is not available the same
day.
Death records are available for deaths occurring in Los Angeles County since 1995.
Marriage records are available for marriages where the license was issued in Los Angeles County since 1995.
Mailed copies
Birth records are available for births occurring in Los Angeles County since 1866.
Death records are available for deaths occurring in Los Angeles County
since 1877.
Marriage records are available for marriages where the license was issued in Los Angeles County since 1852.
You must still come to the office in person to pay for mailed copies.

Check: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Valid identification, such as a driver's license, of the signer is required and must be presented at time of request. Out-of-state checks are accepted.
Money orders: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

What should I do when the application is submitted?
After completing the application, you must visit a Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office. Orders are not processed until payment is received.

Can I get a CA birth certificate same day?
IN-PERSON REQUEST
Same-day service is available for births 1964 to present (Informational Certified Copies, however, are not available the same day). Births prior to 1964 will be mailed within 20 working days.
How long does it take to get a birth certificate in Los Angeles County?
We maintain records of births that occurred in Los Angeles County, except for Long Beach and Pasadena, for the current year and prior year. Birth certificates are available 10 days after the original certificate has been registered.
How do I get a copy of my CA birth certificate?
