If you're anything like us, you'll love a good teen romance TV show - and it's even better when it's set in a gorgeous summery location. As if by magic, Amazon Prime Video answered all of our prayers with The Summer I Turned Pretty, which dropped in the June earlier this year.
The series followed the story of Belly, a teenager who finds herself in a love triangle with two brothers (and her two oldest friends), Conrad and Jeremiah. The TV adaptation is based on the book trilogy by author and series creator Jenny Han (who also wrote the To All The Boys books). It's safe to say we're very invested, with fans now calling for a season two.

Has The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 started filming?
It's good news, as The Summer I Turned Pretty season two is officially happening *and* filming has already finished.
Prime Video confirmed the news with a photo on Twitter of cast members Lola Tung who plays Belly, author and showrunner Jenny Han, Christopher Briney who plays Conrad and Gavin Casalegno who plays Jeremiah, celebrating the end of filming.
They wrote in the caption: "And that’s a wrap on season 2 🎬".

Who will star in The Summer I Turned Pretty S2?
As Prime Video's behind-the-scenes S2 pic confirms, Lola Tung will be officially returning as Belly, as well as Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno coming back as Conrad and Jeremiah.
There's also Sean Kaufman (Steven), Alfredo Narciso (Cleveland), Minnie Mills (Shayla), Jackie Chung (Laurel), Colin Ferguson (John), and Tom Everett Scott (Adam) - all of whom we'd be hoping to reappear.
With The Summer I Turned Pretty based on Jenny Han's book trilogy, there's sadly one character whose future is uncertain. Susannah, played by Rachel Blanchard, dies between the first and second book. So, if S2 sticks to the progression of the novels, we might not be seeing Rachel back on screen.

What might happen in The Summer I Turned Pretty S2?
As the series follows Han's original three books, it's likely that series two may take some inspiration from her second novel.
Book two takes place after Susannah (Conrad and Jeremiah's mum) has tragically passed away following her battle with cancer. Belly and Conrad's relationship is affected, with Conrad running away to escape. We then follow Belly and Jeremiah on a road trip to track Conrad down, with the pair seeming to grow closer.
Season one did change some elements of Han's original novel, so there might be some S2 changes too!

Is there a release date for The Summer I Turned Pretty S2?
Unfortunately there isn't a release date for The Summer I Turned Pretty S2 just yet. However, filming has now ended, so we hopefully won't be waiting too long for season two.
Season one dropped on Amazon Prime Video on 17th June. Assuming that the show will keep in line with its summer theme, we'd expect season two to air in spring/summer 2023.
Jenny Han's first novel trilogy was finally adapted for the screen, and now The Summer I Turned Pretty will be getting the full adaptation treatment with a Season 2.
Coming-of-age novel The Summer I Turned Pretty was first published in 2009, and it was announced in 2013 that it had been optioned for television. But it wasn't until February 2021 that Amazon gave the project a series order, officially giving the green light on the TV series' development.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty is many years in the making, and I’m so excited to tell Belly’s story," author Jenny Han told Deadline in 2021 when the show was announced. “For the longtime book fans, I think it will have been worth the wait. For those newly discovering the Summer series, I hope you fall in love with these characters and this place that is so dear to my heart.”
Jenny Han's most recent trilogy, the To All the Boys series — consisting of the three YA novels To All The Boys I've Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean — was adapted by Netflix in 2018, with all three books getting an on-screen companion. (A TATB spin-off series, XO, Kitty, is also currently in production, that will focus on Lara Jean Covey's younger sister Kitty.)
