That has never happened to me, but if it did I would be tempted to take a straight-edged razor and carefully scrape away at the burnt-on plastic. I wonder if the remnants that are left could just be burned off by running the burner for a while (with a ventilator fan on, of course).

Melted plastic may also create a mess on gas stoves and electric coil heating components. If it occurs, open windows and turn vent fans as swiftly as possible to eliminate the fumes.

If the accident occurs while the burners are on a high, immediately switch off the heating element. Permit the component to cool fully to eliminate the plastic with your hands and a dull knife. Make sure you check for plastic from the drip pans beneath electric burners.

To eliminate the remaining residue, turn the burner on the bottom setting – not over two. Using a wooden spatula, spoon, or chopstick, this may soften the plastic to be scraped off.

Since the plastic is moved into the wooden utensil, use a paper towel to wash the wooden instrument so the melted isn’t transferred back on the burner. Continue scratching till no more extended plastic can be removed.

Together with the kitchen hood port, turn the burner controller on top to burn off any pieces of staying. Use a circulating fan to blow the fumes in an open window. The burner should be around high no more than a couple of minutes.

The ice is likely to make the brittle for removal. Utilize a safety razor blade scraper to chip off the plastic bag. Chill and processor until each bag is gone.
