What kind of animal is a fisher?The fisher is a member of the weasel family, resembling a very large mink. It weighs as much as a red fox, but has much shorter legs. Fisher are extremely agile and active predators. Excellent tree climbers, they can out climb marten and red squirrels.
Can you eat a fisher animal?Despite the name "fisher", the animal is not known to eat fish. The name is instead related to the word "fitch", meaning a European polecat (Mustela putorius) or pelt thereof, due to the resemblance to that animal.
Where do fisher live?Fishers are found only in North America. They once ranged throughout the forests of Canada and the northern U.S., including Washington and south along the Pacific Coast Range, Rockies and Appalachians.
