Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) is responsible for appraising property for the purpose of ad valorem property tax assessment on behalf of the 61 local governing bodies in Dallas County . The appraisal district is a political subdivision of the State of Texas. Our duties include establishing and maintaining accurate property values for all real and business personal property. The Texas Property Tax Code is the primary source of law and guidance for the Texas property tax system.

You can now file your rendition online at www.dallascad.org. Please go to www.dallascad.org and click on Navigation Links for 'Online BPP Rendition' on the DCAD homepage. You will be asked to type in your 17-digit account number beginning with 99*, located in the upper right hand corner of your rendition.

Are property taxes based on market value or appraised value in Texas?

Per the Texas Property Tax Code, all taxable property must be valued at 100% of market value as of January 1 each year. This value is shown on your notice as “Total Market Value”.
