Can you put reed diffuser oil in a wax warmer

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about our products but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What are your products made from?
All our products are made with 100% soy wax and fragrance oil. There are no additives or paraffin. In addition, the wax melts include mica and are decorated with biodegradable glitter. Our essential oil wax melts contain no dyes or mica and are decorated with botanticals.

Our reed diffuers are made with a diffuser base and fragrance oil.

Are your products assessed?
Our products are not assessed as they are not cosmetics (products such as bath bombs and soaps must be assessed for example). They are however required, under European Union Regulations to be CLP compliant.

What is CLP?
The CLP Regulation ("Classification, Labelling and Packaging") is a European Union regulation that standardises the warnings that have to be on products. Candles, wax melts & reed diffusers are legally required to have a CLP label. A CLP label contains hazard symbols, warnings, hazard information (eg may cause skin irritation) and the makers contact details in case there is a need to contact the maker in an emergency.

It is illegal to sell products without this information. Some fragrance oils may not trigger any hazards, but it is still a requirement that the product has a CLP label. For example, if a child took a bite of a wax melt, you can produce the CLP to the doctors so they can treat accordingly. The maker should also have a copy of the Safety Data Sheet for each fragrance oil they use and this can be supplied on request (hence why the makers contact details must be on the label).

Denbies Candles is fully CLP compliant and insured. Safety Data Sheets are held for all fragrance oils and can be provided on request.

CANDLES

What range of candles are available?
We offer a wide selection of candles including luxury soy candles in glass jars and container candles in rose gold tins. We also produce a Christmas range in the run up to the festive period.

How long will my candle burn for?
If used correctly (see below for candle care tips) each candle has been tested for burn times.  These are detailed in the product listing. 

How do I make the most of my candle?
Here are a few tips to make sure you get the most use out of your candle:

• It is recommended to burn your candle until the melt pool reaches the side of the candle, especially on the first burn. This will help avoid tunnelling (this is where walls of wax are left around the edge of the candle). This will ensure that there is no wasted wax with lots of lovely fragrance left! However, do not burn your candle for more than four hours at a time.
• Sometimes wax can remain around the edge of the candle after the first couple of burns. However, continue to use your candle as normal as in most cases this wax will disappear. However, it is important that you burn your candle for long periods of 3-4 hours. Shorter burns ie 30 minutes, will tunnel your candles as the candle is not being burnt long enough for the wax pool to reach the edge of the candle.
• Before relighting your candle always trim the wick. This will help ensure the candle continues to burn in the centre. A long wick may lean and cause one side of the candle to get hotter than the other and give an uneven wax pool.

What safety issues do I need to be aware of when burning a candle?
It is recommended that you do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours so the candle container does not overheat and become damaged. Never move a burning candle as tin or glass containers can became very hot. Ensure candles are kept out of reach of children and animals and away from draughts. Never leave a candle unattended. Do not let a candle burn to the bottom of the container and always place your candle on a heat proof mat or coaster.

WAX MELTS

What are wax melts?
Wax melts are scented pieces of wax that are melted in a wax warmer. When the wax begins to melt it will release the fragrance. 

How do I use a wax melt?
Place the wax melt into the dish of the warmer. Once the scent has finished or you are ready for a change of scent you then need to clean your dish to get ready for the next scent! To clean your burner you can absorb the melted wax with cotton wool or after the wax has set, begin to melt again and then pop out the harden wax. Please always take care when cleaning your burner as melted wax can be very hot.

How long does a wax melt last for?
Each melt is different depending on the strength of the fragrance oil and how strong you like your scent – it really is personal preference. The melts are tested in a tea light burner and can give off scent for between 8 and 20 hours. The majority of melts will give off a strong scent for around 12 hours.

How do I use a wax warmer?
There are two different types of wax warmers – tea-light and electric. To use a tea light warmer you light a tea light candle underneath the dish. Candle care still applies and it is recommended that you do not burn a tea-light candle for more than four hours. Electric warmers are powered by electricity.

What type of warmer should I use?
It is down to personal preference as to what type of warmer you should use. Electric burners do not heat the wax as hot as a tea light burner so give off a more gentle scent throw. Tea lights normally give a much stronger scent throw though the wax may not last as long.

REED DIFFUSERS

How do I use a reed diffuser?
When you receive your reed diffuser simply open the seal on the lid, add your reeds and you are ready to go!

How does a reed diffuser work?
The reed diffuser begins to release scent into your room once the liquid begins to travel along the reeds.

How long will my reed diffuser last for?
All reed diffusers have been tested and will last for approximatley 3 months.  However this depends on where the reed diffuser is placed.  For example, a reed diffuser that is in direct sunlight will use the liquid quicker.

SUBSCRIPTION BOXES

We offer three different subscription boxes:

Wax Melt Subscription Box (monthly)
This is a subscription service which is set up through PayPal on our website.  You pay a monthly fee which is automatically deducted on the same day of each month and you will receive a selection of wax melts in the first week of the following month. Each month you will recieve four wax melt segment pots and a free sample - that's five scents every month and we guarantee that you will not receive the same scent within an six month period.

Candle Subscription Box (bi-monthly)
This is a subscription service which is set up trhough PayPal on our website. This is a bi-monthly box so your fee will be automatically deducted on the same date every two months.  You will receive two candle tins in the first week of the following months; December, February, April, June, August & October. We guarantee that you will not receive the same scent within a twelve month period.

Candle & Wax Melt Subscription Box (bi-monthly)
This is a subscription service which is set up trhough PayPal on our website. This is a bi-monthly box so your fee will be automatically deducted on the same date every two months.  You will receive a candle tin and two segment pots in the first week of the following months; December, February, April, June, August & October. We guarantee that you will not receive the same scent within a twelve month period.

Can I specifiy which scents are sent in my subscription?
Unfortunatley we can not take requests for specific scents to be included. We sell a wide range of floral, fruity and clean & fresh scents along with seasonal scents such as Christmas which will be included in the subscription box.

Can I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your PayPal account.

GENERAL

How will I know my order has been despatched?
You will receive a dispatch notification email (with the exception of subscription boxes).

What postage options are available?
Orders are sent via Royal Mail with the exception of orders that weigh over 2kg which will be sent via a courier. Orders over £40.00 receive free UK delivery. You can select at check out whether you would like your order sent first or second class or signed for. Free collection from Denby Dale (HD8) is available, please select this option at check out. 

Do you offer wholesale orders?
We offer our products for wholesale and we are stocked in a number of independant retail outlets. These are not available to order online so please contact me for further information. I offer a range of prices based on order quantities with low minimum numbers.
