Hi all! Quick question. I’m getting a wisdom teeth removed shortly and due to the time and day I have to go alone, all my friends will be working at that time. Does someone who has done it before know how am I supposed to go buy antibiotics by myself right after surgery (hospital, not dentist) barely able to open my mouth? The dentist I went to mentioned that it would be prescribed given that its a surgery. I guess they are not given on the spot or bought in advance given that a prescription is needed.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE: For all those so sure that antibiotics are not given well… I was prescribed a box.

I just moved (today actually) and I am getting my wisdom teeth out over mid-winter break. I am so stressed about this man. My sister got hers pulled and -long story short- things were really shitty for about 3 weeks. everyone I know keeps telling me about dry socket, and all other horror stories. has anyone here had them out? how horrible was it? I only need my bottom two out for now, so I am hoping for a easy surgery, but honestly I am kinda a wuss when it comes to dental stuff...

any non-horror stories you lovely people of reddit are willing to share?

UPDATE: Heyyy yall. it's about 4 hours post-op. i am both in more pain then I expected but less wigged about it then I expected. really not as bad as I thought, but I am also in ~agony~. thank you to everyone who was willing to share their stories with me, it was somewhat helpful!

Hi guys, so I have a tooth pulled out today to prep for my bottom braces. My dentist told me to brush but not touching the area where the tooth is pulled, and do not spit. I understand the rule of no using straw etc, but how do you brush your teeth and not spit? Do you just rinse your mouth with salted water and open the mouth so everything falls out? Didn't get to realize I need to ask my dentist this until his office closes :( Thank you <3

- Also, is it ok if the toothpaste accidentally touches the operation site? I am so stressed out with those dry pocket warning :(

Can i brush my teeth before wisdom teeth removal reddit

I have severe social anxiety, so haven't been to a dentist in years. My teeth have never had a full clean, only a very minor one a few years back. They definitely need it. Now my wisdom teeth are coming through and I know I have to arrange to get them removed, but do I get a cleaning first? Or will they do that before the surgery? Would they mention that to me before a surgery date is sorted (surely they need X-rays first?) I've worried myself sick (literally physically sick) about dry socket, looking up all the preventative measures, but it won't exactly help the healing process if my mouth isn't bacteria-free. I probably even have cavities I don't know about. My gums are even receding a little at the front. I'll probably have to sort all that before I get them removed, won't I? I wish I never let it get this bad, but I'm definitely going to look after them properly now :( Would a dentist want all other problems taken care of before wisdom teeth extraction?
