The modern pharmaceutical market is saturated with antibacterial drugs for a variety of purposes. Among them there are medicines for both internal and external use. The forms of release of such preparations can also be very different. These can be tablets, injectable solutions, suspensions, powders. One of the most widely used antimicrobial agents for external use is Baneocin. Powder instruction recommends the use in a variety of inflammatory processes in the human body.

Basic components and forms of release

The composition of the drug "Baneocin" includes two bactericidal components that exert a synergistic effect (the total effect from the effect of two or more components, exceeding the efficiency of each constituent element separately) on the inflammatory focus. The first constituent element, zinc bacitracin, belongs to the group of polypeptide antibiotics. The second component, neomycin sulfate, is a representative of the antibiotics of the aminoglycoside group.

This drug is produced in the form of a powder for external use and ointment. In the first case, the composition (powder) contains a powder base as an auxiliary element for the "Baneocin" drug. The composition of the ointment includes, in addition to two antibacterial components, additionally lanolin and white soft paraffin.

Pharmacological effects

Each of the constituent elements of the drug has its own sphere of influence. The result of the bactericidal action of bacitracin is the inhibition of the synthesis of the components of the cell membrane. This component of "Baneocin" shows activity against a number of gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms, fusobacteria and actinomycetes. Suffice it to say that strains of bacteria resistant to the effects of bacitracin are rare.

Neomycin, in turn, inhibits the synthesis of protein in bacterial cells. It is also active against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.

It is worth saying that the absorption of the wound applied to the wound is extremely low. For this reason, at the application site, its concentration reaches its maximum values. In addition to all the above, it should be noted that "Baneocin" (powder) instruction allows the use on open wound surfaces, because biological materials in the form of blood and purulent masses have no effect on the antimicrobial effectiveness of the drug.

In what cases is the application of "Baneocin" shown?

The scope of this drug is quite extensive. "Baneocin" (powder) instructions for use recommends the use of surface lesions of small areas of skin caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the drug. This can include bacterial lesions of a secondary nature, arising from ulcers, eczema, herpetic infections, chicken pox, with infection of wounds that occur with varicose veins. In addition, this antibacterial agent is effective in superficial infection of the skin (piercing of ear lobes, skin transplantation, etc.), in the therapy of post-traumatic infections and infections that have penetrated into the skin during burns.

Widely used medicines and in surgery as a component of complex therapy during the postoperative period (including during episiotomy - the cut of the perineum and the back wall of the vagina in difficult births), mastitis during drainage.

Children are also often prescribed treatment with the drug "Baneocin" (powder). Instructions for use for newborn babies recommend this drug for the treatment of bacterial diaper dermatitis, for the prevention of omphalitis (umbilical infection). Also, it will be effective enough for chickenpox, impetigo, in the prevention of umbilical hernia.

In addition, the drug "Baneocin" (powder) instruction for use for older children recommends the use of such diseases as carbuncles, boils, purulent hydradenitis, paronychia (inflammation of the peri-oral fenula). A good effect can be achieved with the treatment of secondary skin bacterial infections (cuts, abrasions, dermatoses, burns). In patients of all age categories, "Baneocin" is used only on the affected areas of the skin.

In some cases it is permissible to use a bandage. For example, if "Baneocin" (powder) for newborn babies will be used in the treatment of a poorly healing umbilical wound, it is quite permissible to impose a loose bandage on the baby's tummy.

Powder "Baneocin" will be an excellent substitute for greenery (the effectiveness of which is much lower) in the treatment of chicken pox. Wet bubbles are poured over the powder twice a day until a crust forms. In addition to the bactericidal effect, the drug removes itching and thus prevents the children from combing the blisters.

Another area in which this drug manifests itself as very effective, is cosmetology. A variety of inflammatory eruptions on the face (especially purulent nature), acne are losing in the fight against the drug "Baneocin." Powder from acne and other skin problems to use is problematic enough. But the ointment will successfully cope with any rashes on the face.

Contraindications

As with any modern medicinal product, there are contraindications for the use of the drug "Baneocin" (powder). Its use is unacceptable in the presence of the patient's hypersensitivity to any of its components, to antibiotics from the group of aminoglycosides. Do not use it for lesions of large areas of the skin, tk. In such cases, resorption (absorption) and the development of ototoxic effect are possible.

A sufficient reason for refusing to use the antibiotic "Baneocin" is the presence of serious deviations in the field of cardiology, nephrology, excretory disturbances. Do not prescribe the drug to patients who have abnormalities in the functioning of the cochlear and vestibular systems. If there is a possibility of developing an uncontrolled antibiotic absorption process, Baneocin (powder) also does not recommend the instruction.

It is inadmissible to administer the drug into the ear canal in cases where the integrity of the tympanic membrane is impaired. Also, "Baneocin" should not be applied to areas of the skin around the eyes. Pregnancy, lactation, various eye infections are contraindications for the use of this medication.

With great care, the ointment and powder "Baneocin" are prescribed to patients with acidosis, suffering from myasthenia gravis or any other abnormalities in the functioning of the nervous and muscular systems. These conditions are considered to be contraindications of a relative nature, since the use of "Baneocin" in principle is permissible, but under the strict control of patients for their own well-being. If the health deteriorates, the drug is immediately canceled.

Dosing regimen

"Baneocin" (powder) instructions for use recommends use 2 to 4 times during the day. The course of therapy usually lasts 7 days. Method of application - powder spraying a thin layer on the affected area of the skin. If you need a repeat course of treatment, the maximum dose of the drug will have to be halved.

If the medicinal product is used for burns with an area of damage exceeding 20% of the entire body surface, Baneocin can be used no more than 1 time per day (especially if there is a problem of renal dysfunction).

In the case when "Baneocin" is used to combat rashes on the face, it is applied pointwise to acne or acne. This is done only once during the day, preferably before bedtime. If the area of skin lesions on the face with pimples and acne is large enough, then the ointment is applied a thin layer on the entire affected area. Each day, such procedures can be carried out for 1-2 weeks. Then you should take a break. Practice shows that usually for the elimination of lesions on the face skin is enough 2-3 treatments. Also, with success, you can use "Baneocin" to prevent inflammation of the face. In the evening, pimples, acne and comedones are squeezed out, and an ointment is applied to these places. As a rule, in the morning the skin is smooth and clean, without traces of extruded acne, abscesses.

With regard to the degree of exposure to the drug "Baneocin" (powder) instructions for use, feedback from health workers and consumers suggest an increase in the effectiveness of the antibiotic when applying a gauze dressing.

Excessive dose: symptoms, treatment

If, for any reason, "Baneocin" is used in doses far exceeding the recommended by the doctor and the instruction, as a result of absorption of the active components of the medicine, there is a possibility of developing nephrotoxic or ototoxic type reactions. Patients with trophic ulcers should be especially attentive to their condition. Treatment of overdose states is a symptomatic therapy.

Possible side effects

If you apply a sufficiently long time, the drug "Baneocin" (powder) for children and adult patients, there is a possibility of the development of various allergic manifestations. These most often when using "Baneocin" are dry skin, peeling, hyperemia (blood vessel overflow of the circulatory system of any organ), rash, itching, contact eczema.

If the patient has a significant surface area, the health workers should be aware that such patients may develop abnormalities in the functioning of the cochlear and vestibular functions as a result of enhanced drug absorption, neuromuscular conduction, and auditory perception.

In addition, a long period of application of "Baneocin" (and powder, and ointments) can cause fungal infections. This, in turn, will require the use of additional medications.

Interaction with other substances and special instructions

With parallel use of aminoglycosides and cephalosporins, there is a possibility of development of systemic absorption and, as a consequence, manifestations of nephrotoxic reactions. Receiving along with "Baneocin" diuretic preparations such as "Furosemide", ethacrynic acid is able to enhance the severity of reactions of nephro- and ototoxicity.

With the simultaneous use of pain medications, muscle relaxants, analgesics of opioid origin and "Baneocin" (powder) medication, the instruction, reviews of patients and attending physicians report a risk of development of abnormalities in the processes of neuromuscular conduction. It is not recommended to combine the reception of "Baneocin" and alcohol (however, this applies to all practical medicines).

For patients suffering from abnormalities in the functioning of the liver and kidneys, the risk of various toxic effects is high. In these cases, before the start of the course of therapy and in its process, it is recommended to monitor urine and blood tests, perform audiometric studies.

During pregnancy and during lactation, this drug should be used with caution. Neomycin - one of the components of the "Baneocin" - is able to overcome the placental barrier and provoke damage to the cochlear apparatus (part of the inner ear) of the developing fetus.

It is also not recommended at this time to decide the question of how to replace "Baneocin" (powder), independently. To avoid trouble, it is better to consult a doctor.

Similar medicines

Both forms of the release of "Baneocin" (ointment, powder) do not have medicinal products-synonyms (medicines, which contain the same basic components). However, Baneocin (powder) has Russian analogues, which have been developed quite a lot. Of the most commonly used can be mentioned ointments "Gentamicin" and "Helio-mycin", "Neomycin" and "Supirocin", "Lincomycin" and "Bactroban". Widely used such a dosage form, as liniments "Levomycetin" and "Synthomycin".

However, most of all the Russian consumer knows such an analog of "Baneocin", as "Levomekol". This drug has in its composition one antibiotic - levomitsetin. In addition to bactericidal effects, the ointment promotes scarring and effective wound healing. But, unlike the "Baneocin", "Levomekol" has a rather strong irritating effect. Both drugs are deservedly in high demand by consumers. Unlike Levomecol, which is produced only in the form of an ointment, Baneocin in the form of a powder is much more convenient to use for sore wounds, bites, scratches and other skin lesions in children.

In general, the bactericidal effect of using the drug "Baneocin" (powder instruction recommends the use mainly for children, ointment - for adult patients) medical workers are considered more pronounced, and if there is a choice, it is recommended to give preference to this particular drug.

Patients' opinion about the drug

Currently, the bulk of consumers respond to the drug in a positive way. Always accompanies the drug "Baneocin" (powder) instruction. Reviews mostly leave the parents of young children, because the medicine successfully replaces the traditional iodine and zelenok, but, unlike them, it does not get stuck. Handling of any scratches and wounds does not cause any painful feelings to the child, and the baby does not refuse the procedure in the future.

In general, consumers believe that the powder is very convenient to use. You can take it with you for a walk, to a dacha, to a holiday. Also, parents say that the drug "Baneocin" is relatively cheap, the medication is available to patients with any financial capacity.

Virtually no one wrote about the development of any side effects from the use of Baneocin powder. However, such a scenario is possible in principle, so the first application should pay attention to the reaction of the body.

"Baneocin" (powder) instruction recommends the use of acne, and here reviews of consumers are mostly positive. The drug quickly and without consequences solves this problem. Although there is a small percentage of consumers who reacted negatively to the drug from the point of view that "Baneocin" (it is mainly about ointment) dry the skin and can provoke itching. However, the effectiveness and speed of the drug brighten up such small trouble.

A lot of positive feedback from consumers comes about the treatment of burned skin surfaces. Not only that the burns are accompanied by severe pain, so the burnt surface is a practically open gate for infection, which will not fail to immediately join. The application of "Baneocin" for surface treatment in such cases is painless, without any unpleasant sensations, and, as a rule, well tolerated.
