Send or receive money

Send or receive money with your card

  • What can I do if the recipient does not receive a notification?

You should first ask the recipient to check their spam or junk mail folder if you sent money via email. If you sent money through text, make sure their mobile phone service is working.

If the recipient still does not receive the notification, you can cancel the original Send Money transaction and try again.

  • What can I do if I sent money to the wrong person, email address or mobile phone number?

Walmart MoneyCard is not responsible if you send money to the wrong person. To protect yourself against fraud, do not send money to someone you don’t know or trust.

If you have sent money to the wrong email address or mobile phone, you should cancel the transaction right away. If the wrong recipient claimed the money you sent, the money cannot be recovered. To avoid this, be sure to double-check the recipient information before sending money.

  • Can I send money to someone outside the U.S.?

No. Send Money is limited to U.S. residents.

  • How can I cancel a Send Money transaction?

You can only cancel a Send Money transaction that is listed as “Unclaimed”. To cancel, go to your Transaction History, click “Cancel”, then confirm the cancellation.

If the transaction has already been claimed, you cannot cancel it and you will not be refunded.

  • How do I send money to someone?

You can send money to anyone in the U.S. as long as you have a valid email address or mobile phone number for the recipient.

    1. Log in and navigate to Pay Bills and People, then select Pay People, and go to Send Money.
    2. Enter the recipient’s name, email address or mobile phone number, memo, and the amount to send.
    3. Hit “Continue” to review the information before selecting “Send Money” to complete the transaction.

  • How can the recipient pick up the money I sent?

Recipients can deposit money to a Walmart MoneyCard account. If the recipient doesn’t have a Walmart MoneyCard account, they can get one online and deposit the money you sent to their temporary card number.

  • Why wasn’t I able to transfer funds from my Walmart MoneyCard account to an external account?

There are limits to how much you can transfer to an external account from your Walmart MoneyCard account when you initiate the transfer from a third-party platform.

You may perform External Account Funding Transactions up to $1,500 per month. An "External Account Funding Transaction" refers to a near real-time transfer of funds from your account to another network-branded account (e.g., a Visa or Mastercard prepaid or debit card) that is authorized via a third-party platform (e.g., loading of a prepaid card account, moving funds into another financial account, external P2P transactions, or adding value to a digital wallet).

Examples of External Account Funding Transactions:

    • You use your Cash App account to transfer money from your linked Walmart MoneyCard account for purposes of sending money to another person.
    • You use your Venmo account to transfer money from your linked Walmart MoneyCard account for purposes of funding your Venmo account.
    • You may perform External Account Funding Transactions up to $1,500 per calendar month.

  • Can a MoneyPak reload a new, starter card?

If you have a new prepaid card without your name on it, you must register it on your prepaid card provider’s website.
