Scooby doo night of 100 frights remastered

Remaster is a tricky term. To some, it means a simple HD port much like the plethora of PS2-era games that were 'remastered' and bundled for the PS3. However, the Crash Bandicoot revival was marketed as a 'remaster' as was the Spyro trilogy.

Yet, both changed a lot from the original game, with brand new graphics, updated gameplay and a lot of quality-of-life additions. Within this article, the term 'remaster' will be referring to the type that Spyro and Crash Bandicoot got, not the type that Dark Souls did. With that in mind, here are ten games that deserve a remaster of their own.

10/10 Demon's Souls

Every single Souls game bar the one that started it all were placed onto the PS4. As the PS5 will have backward compatibility, that means that the entire franchise, barring the first, will be playable on the new system.

Rumors suggest that Demon's Souls is underway for its very own 'remaster.' It more than deserves one as it is different enough to Dark Souls but familiar enough that new fans will enjoy it as a fresh experience whilst veterans will be able to enjoy the online features that have been long stagnant. Maybe a remaster could lead into a sequel, too.

9/10 The Jak & Daxter Trilogy

Jak & Daxter was a hit. It was the spiritual successor to Crash Bandicoot and the predecessor to Uncharted and The Last of Us. Naughty Dog's game development history is ripe with gems.

It was one of the most iconic platformers of the PS2 era, alongside its cousin Ratchet & Clank and their distant relative, Sly Cooper. A remaster of the entire trilogy in the style of Spyro and Crash would be a monumental hit with gamers and it could even bring the duo to Xbox and PC.

8/10 Burnout 3: Takedown

Burnout 3 is, for many, the best of the series. It's a high-octane, thrill-packed action-rich racer that's all about the violence behind racing. There's a lot of emphasis on crashing and general on-the-road mayhem.

With a new decade beginning, now is the perfect time to give veterans a chance to play this game as they remember it, in high-definition with crisp graphics, whilst also allowing new players to gorge on the unrelenting barrage of scrap metal that spews from the phenomenal crashes in Burnout 3.

7/10 The Simpsons: Hit & Run

There were a lot of Simpsons knock-off games in the early 2000s but the one that sticks out most for players of that era is the GTA-wannabe, Hit & Run. It's what most kids were given when they asked for San Andreas or Vice City and it wasn't a bad supplement.

It's got the humor of the show packed in with fantastic replay value and incredibly responsive controls. The unlocks and cosmetics also add a wealth of progression that acts as an effective hook. They could even add more content from later seasons if they so desired.

6/10 Pokemon Platinum

So many fans leave Platinum out of the discussion when it comes to the best that Pokemon has to offer which is unbelievably undeserved. It is one that should be on the tip of everybody's tongue when speaking about top-tier content from the franchise.

It's rumored to be next-in-line for a Switch remaster and, like Demon's Souls, it's more than deserved. With some quality-of-life fine-tuning and a graphical overhaul, bringing Platinum to the modern era, it could bring new fans into one of the best experiences of the series.

5/10 Fallout: New Vegas

Bethesda screwed over Obsidian Entertainment with their work on Fallout: New Vegas as they just came shy of the Metacritic score that would garner them a bonus and they gave them barely any time to build the game.

Obsidian is made up primarily of developers who worked on the first two Fallout games. New Vegas captured the charm of those originals and became a cult classic for many RPG-fans and a remaster would be more than welcome, especially if Obsidian helmed it.

4/10 Super Mario Galaxy

Nintendo has been bringing various Wii and Wii U titles to the Switch for those who didn't grab them on the somewhat gimmicky predecessor consoles that underperformed in sales.

Whilst Super Mario Galaxy can be emulated on PC or played on a Wii to this day, the control scheme is somewhat jarring because of the necessity for a Wii remote. As such, a port over to the Switch with upscaled resolution and a new control scheme would make one of the best Mario experiences accessible at long last.

3/10 The Ratchet & Clank PS2 Trilogy

Like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank was a spiritual successor. Naughty Dog and Insomniac did, in their early years, work in parallel to one another before diverging in paths entirely.

Their first was Spyro and like Naughty Dog, their first got its own remaster. Now, it's time for the successors to get that sparkly update. There was the PS4 game but it changed a lot in terms of the story due to the film that released alongside it. A remaster of the trilogy would be a great way to re-introduce fans before continuing the original continuity.

2/10 Witcher

Witcher 3 was a major success for CD Projekt Red and The Witcher was a hit for Netflix. Everyone is talking about Geralt and his merry band of side characters but one game that is inaccessible to many due to the faults that have exaggerated with age is his debut in gaming.

As such, a remaster of the original to bring it up to the standards of 2 and 3 would be a welcome sight as, for many, it would offer a new Witcher experience whilst for others, it would be a gateway back into the one that kickstarted it all.

1/10 Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights

Not many people talk about the Scooby-Doo games on the PS2 but they were incredibly fun and had all the charm of the original shows whether it was collecting Scooby Snacks, unraveling the mystery of the Mystic Manor or running from ghosts.

Bringing the entire series to the modern-day would be phenomenal but, if that isn't feasible, bringing the very best that the Scooby-Doo games had to offer with Night of 100 Frights would be just as exciting.
