*Resident rates apply to persons who have been bonafide domiciliaries of the State of New Jersey and to persons financially dependent upon parents who have established bonafide domicile in New Jersey for at least 12 months prior to the first day of class. A person over majority age who is still economically dependent upon a parent is not considered independent for tuition residency purposes. Dormitories are not considered as bonafide New Jersey residences.  

There may be an additional expense involved in providing your own transportation to field practica. This expense varies with the distance of the practicum placement from campus or your home.

Notes for Full Time Students: 

For all NB graduate schools, nine credits is considered full time for the purpose of assessing fees. Full time student, school and technology fees are assessed at nine credits. Tuition is charged per credit up to a maximum of twelve credits except for pharmacy which is billed a flat rate at twelve credits.

  • Domestic Students are charged a Student Health Insurance Plan(SHIP) of $1076.00 for Fall and $1363.00 for Spring
  1. International Students are charged Health Services Fee $243.00, Student Insurance Premium $984.00 Fall $1489.00 Spring and a $250.00 International Student Fee for F1 and J1 visa holders.

Graduate students with appointments as teaching assistants, graduate assistants and graduate fellows, who receive tuition remission funded through research grants, training grants or Rutgers University resources shall be billed tuition at the in-state rate for their degree program.

Merit-based financial support for your graduate studies may be offered by your program of study and as you gather information and apply for funding, consult with your graduate program to learn more about the funding packages they offer newly admitted students, the process to apply for funding and the level of financial support available, which can vary from program to program. Most doctoral students are offered funding packages that can include fellowship support with funding for tuition and access to health insurance. Graduate Research Assistantships, Traineeships and Graduate Teaching Assistantships may also be available through your graduate program of study. Each of these provide a funding package that will include a stipend, tuition and fees and health insurance and the details of support will depend on the funding package.
