Like pomegranates, persimmons are in season in the fall. Persimmons are known as Khormah-loo (date-plum). There are several kinds of persimmons, we have the Hachiya. Hachiya persimmons are oval in shape and have a pointed end like a acorn. They are not palatable when unripe and can leave a fuzzy feeling in your mouth. They are however delicious when ripe and fully soft. Hachiya persimmons are not easily shipped due to their fragile texture, they can be used in sweet dishes for breakfast or dessert or paired with cheese and greens for a salad or appetizer.
