A century of preserving the faith and serving the needy

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Over 100 years ago, Father Thomas Augustine Judge, a Vincentian priest, traveled to Alabama with a small group of laywomen and men to establish mission parishes in communities that were often not welcoming to Catholics. Eventually, Fr. Judge (who is currently being considered for canonization as a saint of the Church) was instrumental in the founding of a religious order of nuns from those who had followed him south, called the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Two years later, in 1921, Fr. Judge established a religious order of priests and brothers known as the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, commonly known today as Trinity Missions, and whose motto is, “Every Catholic an apostle.”

To mark the centennial of Trinity Missions, a Centennial Commemoration Mass will be held at our former Holy Trinity Mission Seminary in Silver Spring, Maryland, on March 19, 2022, starting at 4:00 p.m. The Very Rev. Michael K. Barth, S.T., General Custodian of the Congregation, is excited to announce His Excellency Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States as celebrant with Fr. Domingo Rodríguez, S.T., as the homilist. The public is invited to join in the celebration with a reception, presentation, and art show exhibiting the work of Br. Richard McCann, S.T., following the Mass to give thanks for the past century of service and in anticipation of the future continuation of the order’s ministry to uplift the poor and abandoned.

The charism of the congregation is to preserve the faith, empower the laity, and bring God’s hope, comfort, and relief to the poor, abandoned, and the most neglected. Trinity Missions priests and Brothers work in mission dioceses and parishes in the heart of economically depressed areas, on Native American reservations, in tropical rainforests and in isolated towns of the Deep South bringing hope, comfort, and relief to the suffering of those most in need.

Our missionaries serve the poor and abandoned in 37 missions here in the United States as well as Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Honduras and Haiti.  To learn more visit, www.trinitymissions.org.
