Intake camshaft position actuator solenoid control circuit

|What are the Possible Causes of the Code P0010?

  • Dirty Oil
  • Low engine oil level
  • Faulty Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid
  • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid harness is open or shorted
  • Intake Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

|How to Fix the P0010 Code?

Start by checking the "Possible Causes" listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins.

|What is the Cost to Diagnose the Code P0010?

Labor: 1.0

The cost to diagnose the P0010 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair's diagnosis time and labor rates vary by location, vehicle's make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repair shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

|What are Code P0010 Possible Symptoms?

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

|What Does the P0010 Code Mean?

The Camshaft Position (CMP) actuator is attached to each camshaft and is hydraulically operated in order to change the angle of the camshaft relative to the Crankshaft Position (CKP). The CMP actuator solenoid is controlled by the control module. The control module sends a pulse width modulated 12-volt signal to a CMP actuator solenoid. The solenoid controls the amount of engine oil flow to a CMP actuator. The CMP actuator can change the camshaft angle to a maximum of 25 degrees. The control module increases the pulse width to accomplish the desired camshaft operation.

What is an intake camshaft position actuator solenoid valve control circuit?

The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve controls the oil flow to the actuator, which in turn, advances or retards the camshaft. Solenoid operation is controlled by the car's primary computer, also known as the powertrain control module or PCM.

Can you drive with a P0020 code?

Diagnosis: This trouble code will not prevent your vehicle from running.

How serious is a P0010 code?

A P0010 code is moderately severe. Whilst it will not prevent your vehicle from running, you will experience a decrease in power, an increase in fuel consumption and ultimately, your car will fail a future emissions test.
