I am so disappointed in their customer service. I traded in my car and now their harassing me because they haven't received payoff (sent by mail). They keep threatening and me have locked my accounts including my minor sons account. I have been spoken to as though I'm a child and insignificant. Also their checking plus is bs it really doesn't give you an extra benefits and you have to pay for it. My opinion find a different bank.

Worst bank I've ever dealt with. I was paying my truck payment through the automated system, and started receiving late charges and bills that I had already paid. I finally called and they told me the automated system wasn't paying them even though it was always confirmed when I made payments. Tried to setup direct payment, and it was almost impossible on their website. I even had trouble with someone on the phone directing me. She also stated that even though I finally have direct payment setup, have to check it regularly to make sure it's paying my bill. Awful, awful bank.

***Not Friendly Towards Educated individuals with student loans***
Completely ridiculous reason to get turned down! I bought a new Toyota SUV to hull around my five kids and Toyota gave me a rip off rate that was far too high. I put over 20% down ($10k) and went to refinance with Hughes. They took one look at my student loans for my Masters degree and declined me saying my Debt to Income wasn’t good for them. They calculated that I was going to make the full $1500 a month student loan payments! And in truth I make Zero ($0) student loan payments due to IBR (Income based repayment) due to my large (7) family size.

They don’t know how to handle people with large student loan debts and frankly you can try and explain Income Based Repayment (As I did) and they ignore you and send you a decline letter.

Capitalone is much more understanding towards people with large student loans! Don’t bother taking a hard inquiry hit by applying with Hughes. Capitalone cut my Toyota interest in half and to them I’m grateful.

Side note - I have zero other debts, I even own outright my hud home I fixed up. It was only the SL.

I've had a car loan that was refinanced away from Chrysler Capital to HFCU. During that time, I have *never* once been late. Fast forward to these difficult times we're all trying to survive in I found myself in need of some extra funds to help offset some bills and was told I could use the equity in that loan to refinance and get some cash out. OK, I thought, this may be a viable solution, so I applied. A few days later I get a rejection notice that they wouldn't do it because of issues on my credit report that frankly have been there since before I refinanced with them, and that money would've been used to pay those things off. I really can't fathom their decision in this, but ultimately it is what it is. When I'm done paying this loan off I will *never* look to them for any financial needs ever again.

I previously had an auto loan with Wells Fargo and refinanced with Hughes. I worked with about 3 different agents throughout the refinance process. I could never get anyone consistent to work on my loan throughout the process.
I recently received a breakdown of my loan in the mail and noticed my loan was around $2,000 more than what I was originally quoted which had which was not explained to me.
I’ve reached there customer service twice via phone since my loan was processed both times was it was a terrible experience and poor customer service.
The last time I inquired about why my loan was so much higher. The rep said, “Well I don’t know it’s whatever you signed it to be!” I told her I understand that I am responsible but what is the reason I have more on my loan than what I was told it would be. She said, “ It’s a transfer fee that when you signed you authorized it!” If I knew this was the case I would have never refinanced with them to pay someone’s commission unknowingly.
When I got the loan the agent walked me through my agreement and never addressed this “minor” detail with me.
Consumer be aware of misguided information poor customer service and non transparency when dealing with them. They are Great on All cold calls, poor on service!

I worked with Manny Urquidez and Alejandrina Annerino and they both were a nightmare to work with! I've been in banking for almost ten years and would never treat a customer like this! They ignore emails and they are never on the same page so it makes working with this credit union horrible!
