Does floodwater clean area rugs No, it does not clean rugs it strictly for bare wood floors. but I have sucked water out of mattresses with my older one. the New one broke right away and has not been replaced yet it has been several month now. Hoover is very slow at repairing or replacing products. I do not know if it is because I bought it Amazon.com. But I really need it. I am about to buy another product as I something that sucks up water. No this is only for hard floors and it works well. I owned one of the dual Hoover floor scrubbers and I wasn't happy with the carpet cleaning. I have found that steam cleaning is the only way to go when cleaning carpet. The machine says it is for hard surface floors and not carpets. It would be my guess that if the rug is very tight pile you might try it but I would not try it on the heavier pile rugs....guess the answer is, I really don't know. Can Hoover FloorMate hard floor cleaner be used on carpet?A: No this is only for hard floors and it works well.
