JPMorgan Chase Bank, or often referred to as Chase Bank, is one of the largest consumer banks in the United States.  Chase provides a multitude of services to their customers, including checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposits, credit cards, mortgage and auto loans, to name a few.  Chase has developed very user-friendly online and mobile options to allow customers to be able to self-bank.  For those that still need assistance, or prefer to speak with a Chase representative, they have over 5,000 branches around the United States.

Today, we’re going to take a look at how you can transfer money from your Chase checking or savings account to another bank.  The process could be rather simple or more complex depending on the account that is receiving the transfer. You can use Zelle or go through a wire transfer, and both of these options can be done through the mobile app.

Zelle

Zelle is the easiest, cheapest, and most efficient way to send money from your Chase account to another person.  Most United States consumer banks and many Credit Unions allow their users and members to use Zelle. It is important to note that Zelle is only available domestically. Your Chase banking account should already have access to Zelle through the Chase app. One current idiosyncrasy with Zelle is each bank account must have a unique email or phone number linked to the account.  In other words, if you are looking to transfer money to another account through Zelle, you must have two email addresses or two phone numbers.  If this is not your situation, skip forward to the wire transfer sections.

Step 1: Enroll in Zelle

You’ll need to make sure you are signed in to your Chase app on your phone.

Tap the “Pay & Transfer” tab at the bottom of the screen.

Tap “Send money with Zelle” – this will start the enrollment process

Follow the steps through the process, make sure to read the terms and conditions.

Select the account that you’d like to send the money from.

You’ll have to verify your identity through a text code or email code.

Once verified, you’re ready to send money!

Step 2: Send Money with Zelle

You’ll re-enter the Zelle portal by tapping “Pay & Transfer” and then “Send money with Zelle”

Your screen should now allow you to search contacts, enter a phone number or email address to send the money too.

Follow the on-screen prompts and be sure to double-check the number/email/recipient

Once you select the payee, enter the amount you want to send and select the account you want to use.

You have the option to add a memo line, or set up recurring transfers.

Review the details and if correct, click “Send it now” and your funds should be on the way within minutes!

All in all, Zelle takes the least amount of time, and allows funds to be sent the same day in most occasions.  Zelle transfers are free as well!

Follow the prompts again, click Next and “Add recipient”

Send Domestic Wire Transfer

Go back to the “Wire Transfer” and click “Schedule Transfer”

Find the recipient that you added in the previous enrollment.

Enter the wire amount, date, and click “Next”

Tap Schedule wire, then Close.

Send International Wire Transfer

Sign in, tap the menu in the left corner

Tap “Chase Global Transfer” and then “Schedule Transfer”

You’ll note whether the recipient is an individual or business and specify the country you are sending the funds to.

Enter the amount in dollars (USD), click Next

Choose or add your recipient and choose the date you would like to send the wire.

Click Authorize, then done!

It’s important to note that fees may vary on the wire transfers and it may be a delay in the funds being received depending on a variety of factors.

The good news is all of these options can be done directly from your phone app.  If you have any complications or your situation does not fit any of the above methods, it is recommended to call Chase customer service or visit your local branch and explain your specific situation.
