Well pretty much the title says it all. I was coloring my hair at home (always a mess free occasion *eyeroll*) and got dark brown dye on my brand new off white cabinets. There are only 2-3 small little spots but still very noticeable in a brand new home, I tried immediately taking a moist towel to it, but that permanent hair dye is already on there good. Does anyone have any advice for getting this off?????? I know white (painted) cabinets can be a hassle as far as having to sand the entire front down and repaint it, so I’m hoping it doesnt come to that. Please and thank you Post # 2 Member577 posts Busy bee
I’m usually able to scrub hair dye off with an alcohol swab (white cabinets too). It may depend on whether the dye you use is permanent or not but worth giving it a shot. Post # 3 Member2002 posts Buzzing bee
throwaway1359 : Try a little hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip! I usually wipe them up right away, but peroxide has saved my butt on multiple occasions with various kinds of stains. Post # 4 Member193 posts Blushing bee
try magic erasers! Post # 5 Member2480 posts Buzzing bee
This might sound stupid, but try hand sanitizer. I’d go very carefully with it though as the paint might react to it. Post # 6 Member391 posts Helper bee
Nail polish remover…test it first though as it could harm the paint job. Or hairspray Post # 7 Member534 posts Busy bee
Sounds ridiculous but my hairdresser told me to use hair bleach when I got a spot on my wool carpeting. Mix a batch of hi-lift or any other plain hair bleach (no toner or colour base at all) and let it set on the stain. May need a few tries. My carpet came up almost perfect. dodobee : What she said!I’m a stylist and have done the same to clean walls and sinks at work. I have also use alcohol, clorox bleach, magic erasers, and a mixture of baking soda and liquid castille soap. Obviously test a small part of the cabinet first! Post # 9 Member687 posts Busy bee
throwaway1359 : I make a mess every time I dye my hair… try a magic eraser first if that doesn’t work put Dawn on it and it sit for a while. When I dye my hair I keep both right next to me. I try to wipe with the magic eraser as I go and right afterwards and if there’s still color I get it wet, scrub with Dawn and leave it for like an hour.
