One of the more popular features you can get in any of our new Mazda models is a navigation system. It’s an upgrade that you can get as part of the MAZDA CONNECT™ infotainment system along with features such as:
- Full-color touchscreen display
- Multifunction commander control
- Voice command technology
- SiriusXM satellite radio
- HD Radio, Aha, Pandora & Stitcher integration
- Multiple USB ports
- E911 automatic emergency notification
This technology will come in handy since you can use it to get to new destinations without getting lost or to your favorite hotspots using the quickest route based on current traffic patterns. And being in North New Jersey, there’s plenty of ways that traffic can build up quickly!
The Mazda navigation system works so easily and all it takes are a few quick & simple steps.
How to Input Your Destination on the Mazda Navigation System
You can get started with the Mazda navigation system in 1 of 2 ways: select Navigation on the home screen of the display in the center of the dashboard or using the NAV shortcut button located next to the commander knob. Either way, you’ll see icons come up on the bottom of the screen whose respective labels appear as you roll over them.
The one you’ll want to pick is the checkered flag icon labeled New Destination, where you get a menu of options. From there, you:
- Choose Find Address
- Enter the city or ZIP code
- Enter the street name
- Enter the number of the address
- Confirm the entry
- Choose Go when prompted & your route will be calculated
The navigation system also works with the voice command system. All you have to do is:
- Hit the Talk button on the steering wheel
- Hear the voice say “navigate to new address”
- Say the full address for your destination when prompted
Updating the Maps on the MAZDA CONNECT™ Navigation SD Card
This is also an easy process you can do yourself using the SD memory card that comes with the Mazda navigation system. All you need to do is take the SD card out of your car and connect it to a computer that has the internet, so you can download the appropriate updates to the map of the United States & Canada.
To reinsert the SD card, all you need to do is:
- Ensure the ignition is off
- Open up the center console & find the SD card slot
- Insert the SD card label-side up
Do not insert the SD card into any other devices like another vehicle or a camera. We recommend planning a route before you start driving since taking that much attention away from the road can cause an accident. If you get your destination while driving or have to go somewhere new while on the road, we recommend pulling over for the same reason.
