What's Required to Stream Wirelessly With Fire TV?

All Fire TV devices come ready for wireless streaming right out of the box. There's nothing extra to buy to get your Fire Stick ready, but you do need to have a wireless network capable of streaming. That means you need a wireless router which provides a fast enough wireless network to satisfy the requirements of the streaming services you want to use.

If you already have devices like laptops, tablets, or even a smartphone, and they connect to the internet wirelessly, that means you have a Wi-Fi network already. If you use any of those devices to stream video, the network is probably fast enough to support your Fire Stick.

The other concern is that your wireless router has to be close enough to your Fire Stick for it to connect. To that end, you may want to try connecting a laptop or tablet in the room where you want to use a wireless Fire Stick to see if the Wi-Fi network is strong enough in that location. If it isn't, you can try moving the router or using a range extender.

What to Do if You Don't Have Your Remote

You clearly need a remote if you want to connect your Fire Stick to Wi-Fi, but there are a few workarounds. If you're currently using your Fire Stick with a wired Ethernet connection, you can use the Fire TV Stick app on your phone as a replacement remote. To do this, the Fire TV and your phone have to be connected to the same network.

If that isn't an option, you can plug a USB mouse and keyboard into your Fire Stick and use them to set up your Wi-Fi in place of the remote. You can also try to pair a new remote by pressing the home button for 10 seconds on a replacement remote, but that doesn't always work.

Why is my Amazon Fire Stick not connecting to WiFi?

Restart your modem and router. If possible, move your Fire TV device and router closer to each other. To restart your home network devices: Unplug your modem and router and then wait 1 minute.

How do I connect my Fire Stick to WiFi without remote?

To connect a Firestick to WiFi without remote, you can use the Fire TV App on another mobile phone, use an HDMI-CEC Remote, or connect it to the Internet using Echo or Echo Dot.
