How to change the name that appears on caller id

Your outbound caller ID is the phone number or name that people see displayed when you call them.

Phone.com NxT administrators can use the Company Settings tab in the Configure App to change their caller ID.

Classic Phone.com administrators can use the Control Panel to change their caller ID by doing the following:

You can set your caller ID in three different areas of your Phone.com account settings: Your extension settings, your phone number settings, and in the caller ID settings for the Phone.com mobile app.

Changing Your Extension Settings

  1. Mouse over Configure and click Manage Users and Extensions.
  2. Click Edit for the extension you want to edit.
  3. Scroll down to Outbound Calls and select the phone number that you want to use as your caller ID from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

You’ve reset your outbound caller ID.

Changing Your Phone Number Settings

  1. Mouse over Configure and select Manage Numbers.
  2. Click Edit for the phone number that you want to edit.
  3. Scroll down to Caller ID Name and enter the name (15 characters max.) that you want to display as your caller ID.
  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

You’ve reset your outbound caller ID.

Note: If Publish this number in the National Caller ID Name database is checked, the name that you set will be published to that database. Typically, landline carriers subscribe to the National Caller ID Name database, so when you call people who use those carriers, they will see the caller ID name that you’ve set. Cell phone providers generally do not use this database for their caller ID name services. Note that this setting can take up to 30 days to be included in all databases.

Changing Your Mobile App Settings

If you are using the Phone.com iPhone or Android mobile apps, navigate to the settings within the app and set your outbound caller ID to any of the phone numbers in your Phone.com account.

It is they who receive your call who decides what name you come up with.

If you are in their Contactbook as "SLATSVIDEO" then that is the name they see. If your name is not in their contact book, then they will just see your phone number.

I know that... but when I call somebody that does NOT have my number the name "Portage Northern Baseball" appears on their phone? I was a parent of the team and ran the social media but can't understand why my caller id comes up that way with some people. Unless coincidently a few obscure people saved my name in their phones as that.

I do not see other options. In any case, it is not possible to change the Caller ID that others see on their phones during normal calls. What is possible in 3rd party apps I do not know.

The only other way you can change that is to contact your cell service carrier and see what they have on file for display. But if this is only happening with a few people that will not be the issue, it will be that they have a contact on their phone that lists you that way. They would have to change that on their device.

your carrier is responsible for your caller id

Some carriers let you choose how your name displays on caller ID. Check with your carrier or check your carrier App. Verizon for example let’s you do it when you’re logged into the My Verizon app

I came up with something - are your phone number connected in some ways to Portage Northern Baseball? If yes, then it may be because those who have received calls from you have some sort of "Spam Call app" on their phone.

Ex. I have an app on my phone, if I receive a call from phone numbers registered in that app, then the name comes up. It is not necessarily SPAM, it can also be telemarketers, or shops etc.

It must be my best bet.

Smart feature - I did not know it existed, you can not do that with any carrier in Denmark.

How do I change the name that shows up when I call someone on my iPhone?

You can change the name of your iPhone, which is used by iCloud, AirDrop, your Personal Hotspot, and your computer. Go to Settings > General > About > Name. , enter a new name, then tap Done.

Why does another name show up on caller ID?

Every provider has a database of numbers and their matching names. When a call comes in to that provider, it pulls the info from the db and sends it with the call to its customer with this info. You can have different Caller ID display names on different providers.
