How much is a rayquaza ex pokemon card worth

Collectors of the Pokemon TCG can't help but hope they have some cards that might sell for a surprisingly high amount in their collection. Especially as fans go to dig out their old cards in storage for a bit of nostalgia, some may wonder if a few select cards might bring in a ton of cash at auction.

With just how popular Rayquaza is among the legendary Pokemon, it comes as no surprise that many cards have been printed for it over the years. Some of them are seriously prized by collectors and are worth a tidy sum when sold.

10/10 Rayquaza EX ~ Dragons Exalted - $100

It may not be the strongest EX card in the Pokemon TCG but this Rayquaza had its place in competitive decks back in the day. It was a part of Jon Bristow's deck at the 2013 World Championships and managed to get him into the top eight. Combining Keldeo-GX, Float Stone, and Eelektrik, Bristow was able to retreat Rayquaza each turn, attach a bunch of energy, then send it back out onto the battlefield to deal damage again.

9/10 Rayquaza GX ~ Celestial Storm - $120

Rayquaza GX is likely one of the most powerful and popular GX cards of all time. Decks featuring the card absolutely dominated the World Championships in 2018, and it still is finding use today in decks that placed highly in the Pokemon Online Global Championships. With many easy ways to put a ton of energy onto the card to unleash devastating attacks and even an ability to draw a massive amount of cards in a tight pinch, Rayquaza GX will likely see use in standard play until it's no longer legal.

8/10 Rayquaza ex ~ Dragon - $130

Rayquaza has been printed as an lightning type and as a fire type in the past and this card combined the two of them to create a Pokemon capable of launching devastating one-hit knockouts for any players able to attach energy to it quickly. This would eventually become a common theme among Rayquaza cards, placing energy to discard it in order to launch serious attacks.

The Pokemon also had multiple resistances and a strange weakness in normal types, something extremely unusual in the Pokemon TCG.

7/10 Rayquaza ex δ ~ Dragon Frontiers - $140

Delta cards allowed for Pokemon to be printed with unique types in the TCG making this Rayquaza an electric type instead of a dragon type. While so many attacks on other Rayquaza cards are powered by lightning energy, this allowed it to be used in lightning decks with ease. Its ability also was unique as it allowed players who were behind in the game to potentially make a comeback.

6/10 Rayquaza ex ~ Deoxys - $200

If players were careful to not let this Rayquaza ex get knocked out, they could theoretically keep stacking up energy, playing another Rayquaza ex to take the energy away, then switch it out indefinitely. Since this card had a rare attack for the Pokemon that didn't require energy to be discarded, this could result in devastating knockouts. Add in the fact that it is gorgeously sparkly and any collector would be happy to have it!

5/10 Rayquaza VMAX ~ Evolving Skies - $212

VMAX cards were the newest mechanic in the Pokemon TCG after Sword & Shield was released and Rayquaza got its own with amazing art by Anesaki Dynamic. While all versions of the card are a bit valuable, the version with the special art is the one collectors covet. This is because it is far rarer and harder to pull from packs, especially with issues that scalpers have caused in recent times.

Everyone wants to catch a shiny Pokemon if they can so it's no surprise this extends into the Pokemon TCG as well. This card features the iconic black design of shiny Rayquaza which trainers and fans have come to love over the years.

The card having a high enough attack to take down most Pokemon of the era in a single hit is just another cool bonus, though it's not easy getting enough energy on it to do so.

3/10 Rayquaza ~ Skytree Town Pokemon Center - $280

When the Skytree Town Pokemon Center opened up in Tokyo, fans of all kinds had the opportunity to get this card with its special logo in the corner. Anyone that purchased five or more booster packs at any Pokemon Center at the time was given the card alongside their purchase while supplies lasted. As the event happened back in 2016 and only for a limited time, there are quite a limited number of these cards in circulation, increasing their values significantly.

2/10 Rayquaza ~ Dragons Exalted - $310

While there was also a version of this card without the shiny version of Rayquaza, it's the one with the black dragon that demands serious cash from collectors today. While the card never showed up much competitively, it did also make an appearance in Jon Bristow's World Championship deck in 2013 as well. It's possible the card may have had more competitive viability but no one else ever seriously experimented with it.

1/10 Rayquaza★ ~ Deoxys - $1000+

Rayquaza★ star has some of the most gorgeous artwork in the entire TCG and features the legendary Pokemon in its shiny form to boot. With it also being holographic, it's become a must-have for collectors who love the Pokemon and want something to show off. Despite only one star Pokemon being allowed in any deck at all, they have still become incredibly rare over the years, selling for astronomical amounts at auction.
