Good first job but not ideal
The company itself isn’t bad. It’s a fun place to work, you learn a lot about merchandising and retail and customer service. Pay is not great, they could pay more and give better raises. Can move up the company if you wanted. The management is hit or miss, they’re great one day and awful the next, one person being in a bad mood puts the whole entire store on edge.

Decent job, but you can’t survive on the salary
It’s a decent company to work for. The job isn’t hard and it’s easy to do well and impress management. Unfortunately the company doesn’t pay it’s employees a living wage. It’s a wonder how anyone works here when they could work at any other retail job for more money. The only reason I’m still here is for the full time benefits which are comprehensive while still being affordable.

Good Company
Over the year that I worked at TJMaxx, I had a great overall experience! The staff and atmosphere of this particular retail is unmatched. I unfortunately was seeking something closer to my degree, therefore I chose to leave. However this is a good company, and I would recommend this rapidly growing retail store to whomever is looking for growth in the retail community.

Productive workplace, beware of if you're hired as a "temp"
I enjoyed my experience at tjmaxx for the most part. It was a nice environment, you got plenty of breaks, and the hours were flexible. The only problem I had was when I tried transfer to a new location just to find out that I was hired as a temporary worker or "temp". Therefore I wasn't in the system and they wouldn't hire me back.

I would make sure there was enough people on the schedule in case other people call off so that way we have the extra as backup but unfortunately the company cares more about payroll

I would make sure that everybody is trained in all departments, so that when there is a shortage of employees, such as there is now, everybody will be available to help out in all departments. I feel that training is the most important aspect of all. Also, everybody is to be treated equal whether they are liked or not. Negative energy does not make employees flourish or stay at their job. If everybody felt appreciated or praised a little, this would make the employees feel good about themselves and the job that they are doing! Also, too much favoritism on some employees can shine through! Associates totally see this and get frustrated with this! This brings bad karma! Last but not least, being paid more money and better yearly raises would also entice people to remain at there jobs. Why should employees that have been there for years be making the same money as the next new employee that walks through the door. It is simple: Fairness, appreciation and better pay makes for an happy employee who loves their job!
