Overview
Human beings as a social species are intriguing, and the study of each individual is understandably endless. Through the study of one’s behaviour and mind, we are able to unravel the immense, rich complexity of what it means to be a human.
The Master of Science in Psychology degree is an excellent fast-track route for those with appropriate qualifications but without an undergraduate degree in psychology. The course provides a broad scientific education in psychology with a strong grounding in psychological theories and research methods. It explores how psychological research is conducted, analysed, and reported. This is delivered through a series of guided learning exercises, culminating in an independent research project.

Helmed by London Metropolitan University in the UK, Aventis’ Master of Science in Psychology degree programme in Singapore is explicitly intended for non-psychology students. Covering a rigorous, broad range of curriculum, this 1-year masters degree course is equipped with additional non-compulsory modules in applied psychology to prepare each student with the imperative skills and expertise.

Programme Structure
The Master of Science in Psychology programme in Singapore comprises 6 modules on top of a dissertation, structured to accommodate working professionals’ work priorities and commitments. As a masters degree student, you will be assessed with presentations, practical reports, essays, dissertations, and end-of-module examinations.

Admission Criteria
Students will be encouraged and are expected to contribute to the class learning experience in a peer and cohort learning environment. As a student at Aventis, you will be assessed based on your aptitude, potential, experience, and managerial skills.
A bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least lower second class honours (or equivalent)
Matured candidates above 30 years old, with a minimum of 8 years working experience may be considered on a case-to-case basis
GCE ‘O’ level Mathematics at C6 or above (or equivalent)
Minimum of 6.5 IELTS overall with no less than 5.5 in any band, or equivalent (applicable only for graduates from non- English programmes)
Delivery Structure
All modules under this masters degree programme are spanned over 2 consecutive weekends each month by registered psychologists as well as qualified academics with years of professional experience. These modules are complemented with role plays, group discussions, experiential skill workshops, and interactive lectures.

Course Curriculum
Cognition
Centers around developing each student’s understanding and knowledge of cognitive psychology. Through facilitation, students will be able to think critically about theories surrounding empirical evidence. Moreover, this module seeks to develop students’ critical thinking and research skills as they run a cognitive psychology experiment in which they will ultimately present these findings as they produce a research report.
Developmental Psychology
Strives to provide each student with a systematic understanding of social development and cognitive theories while further enhancing their expertise in locating primary sources, reading, comprehension, critically evaluating, and communicating relevant information accurately.
Individual Differences
Students will gain a systematic and deeper understanding of key theories in the emotional, intelligence, motivation, and personality areas of individual differences. In addition to understanding how these topics can be scientifically investigated by utilising appropriate research techniques, students will also foster skills in the core areas of psychology.
Psychobiology
Seeks to provide students with a deeper understanding of the research and theory aspects of biological mechanisms in behavior. This includes evaluating the use of animal experiments in the context of psychology, as well as a crucial examination of the environmental and behavioral aspects of psychology, including the different levels of its analysis.
Social Psychology
Students are introduced to the theory and research aspects of social behaviour, social identity, and social cognition in the Social Psychology module.
Research Methods
Students will have the opportunity to learn the methods of psychological investigation and design them. Furthermore, they will be able to assess the data collected while understanding the ethical implications surrounding the said methods. General competencies obtained from this course will be highly valued in employment settings, such as critical thinking, numeracy, and communication.
In addition to delivering a solid foundation for students' masters-level projects, this module seeks to integrate students' knowledge of research methods with their understanding of core psychology areas, such as developmental and cognitive psychology.
Dissertation
The Dissertation module is more than just writing a 12,000-word research report. Students will excel not only in the process of planning and writing, but also in the way they execute independent empirical research on the scope of psychology.

Dr Yip holds a PhD, Psychology, and a Master of Philosophy Psychology from University of Hong Kong Dr Yip is a mental health practitioner/researcher dedicated to mindfulness-based interventions. With more than 10 years of experience in training, counselling and consulting. He is also a Certified mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) practitioner and has conducted these training in a variety of settings such as schools, hospitals, community centers and business organizations. He also provides mental health and resilience trainings tailored for employees in various corporations He also provide guided mindfulness practices such as breath focusing and yoga stretching for teenager, adults, and seniors in community centers
Dr Jonathan Ee
PhD, Psychology Birmingham University
Dr Jonathan Ee is a Clinical Psychologist previously working at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and National University Polyclinics. He is currently working with people with chronic and terminal illness with mental health conditions in a non-profit organization. He holds a PhD (Psychology) with a focus on exploring the experiences of mental health professionals towards people with intellectual disabilities and mental health problems in Singapore.

You will be awarded a Master of Science in Psychology degree by London Metropolitan University, the same as that awarded on-campus. You will have a chance to graduate in Singapore or London.
