That doesn’t seem to be the case with the latest Call of Duty title, and Series S owners' poor solid state drives are going to pay the price. Recent reports indicate that the affordable new Xbox only has about 364GB of storage – the rest of it being used to house the operating system and other internal software. While the file size on Series S might be the most noteworthy part of this announcement, it's also worth pointing out the discrepancy between Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Both current-gen and next-gen versions of Black Ops Cold War will be smaller on PlayStation consoles – it's not much, but every GB counts nowadays. However, you'll at least be able to uninstall portions of the game you don't play, helping you save a bit of space. The PC version is a bit different– here's what you can expect.

A Reddit post (opens in new tab) published to the Xbox Series X subreddit has revealed that Activision’s latest Call of Duty game will be approximately 187.9GB to install upon release. To minimise file size, you’ll also be able to control what part of the game to install, so you can choose to go without Black Ops Zombies mode, saving you around 8GB of free space. Cold War also has an option to download HD texture packs, which comes in at a whopping 38GB, as well as ray-tracing data which comes in at around 12GB. Still, even without the optional texture packs and modes, the install size will still be massive.
