A few days ago we were invited to attend to Disney On Ice presents Follow Your Heart and of course, we said yes! Every time Disney On Ice comes to the D.C. area we take our children because these shows are so entertaining for both the adults and the kids.

My girls are 2.5 and 5 years old and we have been going to Disney On Ice since my second child was born. However, this last show was the best one we’ve gone to because both of my girls were old enough to understand what was happening. They were mesmerized by the magic, by the princesses and they were singing along with excitement.

As a mother, I live for moments like this. I’m going to be honest, a few tears come down my face when I would see my children’s expression. We were on the first row and really close to the princesses and Disney characters that were skating, which means they waved bye to my girls many times. They were so happy every time this happened!

The whole show brings the Disney magic into town and that is priceless, especially when your kids are familiar with Disney movies. They get to see not only all the princesses, but characters like Olaf, Dory and Nemo. Plus the costumes and scenery are just so well made! The details in everything are flawless and you truly feel like you’re transported to that movie scene. Plus the skaters are so well prepared, I have yet to see a skater make a mistake.

Disney On Ice comes several times a year and they’re all about Disney; however, each show covers different Disney movies and Disney characters. For example, Follow Your Heart’s main presentations were from the movie Inside Out, Finding Dory and Frozen. There was even snow falling during the Frozen presentation!

And we have actually seen Follow Your Heart the 2 times it came into town and both shows were a little different. So it doesn’t matter if you’ve gone before, you will always see you new stunts, costumes, characters and choreographies.

Disney On Ice shares positive messages throughout the show

Each show has a different theme. Follow Your Heart is just about that – following your heart, your dreams and chasing your goals. But each show has its own positive message for children – it’s mostly about love, chasing your dreams and that anything is possible.

I love that they incorporate such positive messages. There are plenty of children that attend these shows and leave feeling inspired. As a adult, I feel inspired too! Some of the things said during this show are truly motivating. And I love that my girls get to have fun while being inspired to be the best they can be.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are always part of the show

My girls love so many Disney movies, but Mickey and Minnie are Disney classics that everyone knows and loves. Even if you haven’t seen all the movies presented during Disney On Ice, you know exactly who these fun mouse characters are.

And let me tell you, the screaming that happens when they hit the ice just confirms that everyone loves Mickey and Minnie. They come out several times throughout the show in different costumes and makes us all giggle.

It’s an affordable way to experience the Disney magic

Visiting Disney World or Disneyland is expensive and not everyone can afford these trips, especially on a regular basis. However, Disney On Ice shows are so affordable and there are always discount codes available for the tickets, making it even more affordable.

If your child is a fan of Disney, and you can’t take them to Disney, this is a great way to experience the magic. And if you’re a big Disney fan who goes to Disney frequently, then these shows are just like icing on the cake. In 2 hours you get to see SO MANY Disney characters – you don’t even get to see this many at once when you visit Disney!

No matter how many times we go, Disney On Ice always gets my children happy and excited. And I know they’re not the only ones because while you’re at the show you hear children screaming with excitement, laughing and looking mesmerized.

Is it worth to take a toddler to see Disney on Ice?

We’ve been taking our children since they were 2 and a few months old. We’ve never had issues with our children watching the entire show. This show is made to keep kids entertained so there’s a lot of action, songs they will recognize and many fun surprises.

My youngest child doesn’t like to sit for long periods of time, so she will watch the show standing in front of her seat.

There are loud noises during the show but not loud enough that you need earplugs. If your child is sensitive to loud sounds I would bring a pair of earplugs just in case.
