Dark And Difficult Times Lie Ahead.

On November 18th, 2005, the next and fourth installment of the Harry Potter series was released into theaters and across the pond in the U.K.: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

This fourth book is considered the pinnacle novel of the series, where everything turned darker and more gruesome for our hero. Hogwarts is hosting the Twi-Wizard Tournament, where students must be 17 years of age. At 14 years old, somehow Harry Potter is illegally selecteSomehow Potter is illegally selected and entered into the deadly Twi-wizard Tournament. Alongside his competitors, including fellow Hogwarts student Cedric Diggory, Potter must find a way to stay alive.

Introducing to the film were several new characters and actors to the series: Brendan Gleeson as the ex-Auror Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, David Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr., Miranda Richardson is the face of journalist Rita Skeeter, and Robert Pattinson is Hufflepuff student, Cedric Diggory.

Directed by Mike Newell, Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire takes on the edgier and darker side of the Harry Potter journey. Not only does the fourth movie mark the return of the evil Master of the Dark Arts, Lord Voldemort, but we say goodbye to our first fierce and loyal friend. After Prisoner of Azkaban ranked in the lowest box office for all eight films, this sequel went on to rank third highest after Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 until profits were readjusted for inflation in October 2012. Though writer Steve Kloves hoped to turn this installment into two parts, this plans were axed resulting in one film which runs for a scary 157 minutes.

Quotes:

Dumbledore: Send a message to Azkaban. I think they'll find they're missing a prisoner.
Barty Crouch Junior: I'll be welcomed back like a hero!
Dumbledore: Perhaps. Personally, I've never had much time for heroes.
Seamus: Blimey! That's one big woman.

Voldemort: I'm going to kill you, Harry Potter. I'm going to destroy you. After tonight, no one will ever again question my power. After tonight if they speak of you, they'll only speak of how you begged for death. And how I being a merciful Lord... obliged.

Harry: I love magic.

Professor McGonagall: The house of Godric Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizarding world for nearly ten centuries. I will not have you, in one night, besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons!

Dumbledore: [to Harry] I never liked these curtains. I set them on fire in my fourth year. Accidentally, of course.

Hermione: Ron, you spoiled everything!

Seamus: It's not like I *try* to blow things up, exactly, it just sorta happens. You gotta admit though, fire is fascinating.

Dumbledore: No spell can reawaken the dead, Harry. I trust you know that. Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.

Dumbledore: People change in the maze. Oh, find the cup if you can. But be very wary; you could just lose yourselves along the way.

The Hogwarts gang apparated into theaters around the world on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The film already had its world premiere in London on Nov. 6 and New York premiere Nov. 12. Both debuts were attended by the stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. The Chinese debut in Shanghai on Nov. 17 included California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Reviews have been very enthusiastic for this fourth and darkest installment of the series, the first to carry a PG-13 rating.

The movie is opening in 3,858 theaters in the U.S., more than any other Harry Potter movie. While most of the world will see the film sometime in the next month, the poor Republic of Macedonia has the longest wait—until April 28, 2006.

Even though the movie is 2 hours and 36 minutes long, a lot of the 734-page book had to be scrapped. Don't look for Hermione's S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elvish Welfare) and the Quidditch World Cup is decided very quickly. But don't worry, Harry's crush on Cho Chang and Hermione's date with Viktor Krum are still there. The heart of the movie, though, is the thrilling and dangerous Triwizard Tournament and Voldemort, sorry—"he who must not be named"—is finally shown in person.

The next movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, has a scheduled opening in summer 2007.
