Fort worth gem and mineral show 2023

Arlington Gem and Mineral Club

Founded in 1957 to encourage the public in the study of earth sciences, lapidary arts and all related fields through training and education, AGMC boasts a rich history as a non-profit volunteer organization spanning over four generations. We are one of the largest and most active gem and mineral clubs in Texas. Most importantly, we are a community of talented individuals who come together to share interests, to learn, to grow and to foster creativity.  With general membership and youth programs, we are dedicated to retaining our current talent of seasoned individuals while attracting and developing the next generation of scientists, engineers, rock hounds, silversmiths and jewelers.

AGMC has long recognized how important developing and maintaining an active healthy life style is to the wellbeing of individuals. We not only have a significant older population in our membership; we have an ever expanding number of younger members joining which bodes well for the future.  As you learn more about us, you will come to recognize that our training, education and social programs are targeted at ensuring our younger members develop the skills and our older members maintain the skills to function well in daily life and work. Our activities address creativity, problem solving, interacting successfully with others and in the case of field trips, physical activity.  The frequency of programs and multi-generational participation help address the feelings of isolation and separation which can occur because of losses, life changes, health reasons or crisis as evidenced during this Covid19 pandemic.

Known for its generous array of classes, the club offers learning and teaching opportunities in subjects related to the lapidary arts, glass and beading, enameling, metal arts including but not limited to silversmithing, casting, wire wrapping and other jewelry making and design techniques. A robust source of subject matter expertise is provided through a combination of resident volunteer instructors, guest lecturers and visiting master craftsmen.  A more comprehensive list of currently available classes can be found under “Classes : Class & Lab Sign-up and Event Calendar.”

We sponsor field trips locally in the Dallas - Fort Worth Area, regionally, statewide, and out of state for such adventures as hunting fossils, crystals, or any other gems and minerals which are of interest to rock hounds. Through our relationships with other organizations and individuals, we also sponsor site visits including museums and private collections to further our education programs.  Our flagship event is our annual Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show & Sale in June. Detailed information on the show can be found under “events” on the website. The show brings together local, regional and international vendors, members for demonstrations, door prizes, auctions, Raffles, Classes and of course, sales of all things interesting in gems, minerals, fossils and jewelry.

We invite you to join our monthly pot luck dinner to socialize, listen to guest speakers on a variety of subjects; have a chance to win door prizes and raffle prizes and learn more about us. For more information visit us on Facebook (Arlington Gem and Mineral Club) or on Instagram (@agemclub).

We are a proud member of the South Central Federation of Mineral Societies, the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, and proudly support the AFMS scholarship program.
