FAQsWhat is the ESC's Background Check Process? All employees working in an educational setting in the State of Ohio are required to submit to a periodic background check prior to employment. Background checks for classroom substitutes and educational aide permits must also be submitted electronically to the Ohio Department of Education at the time you are complete your background check for the Ohio Department of Education to process your license. Applicants who already have their background results on file with the Ohio Department of Education within the past 12 months and can provide a copy of those results to our office, may not need to be fingerprinted for employment at this time.
