Show moreSo over the past week maybe, Destiny 2 has not been loading on PC Game Pass through Xbox. Whenever you click play on Destiny 2, the load screen would appear and then immediately crash after 2-3 seconds. What was so frustrating was that the Steam version of the game loaded up just fine. A quick search and Google didn’t really bring up anything except for a thread over on Xbox help forum about a ton of people having the same issue. There was a temporary fix, that worked for one day before it was either blocked or pulled. Anyways, it seemed that the issue was Micorosft Game Services, specifically version 3.63.8003.0. This somehow broke the game for everyone. That got me thinking. I did notice that there is an Xbox Insider Hub for the PC and wondered if this would install some other version of Game Services if I were to join it. At this point, I’d try anything just to play again so I decided to join.  This makes you download the Xbox Insider Hub app which you can get from here. Once installed, click Preview, and then join the Windows Gaming preview. Once you do that, go to the Microsoft Store app on your PC and head to your Library section. Click Get Updates and an update for Xbox and Gaming Services should appear. Gaming Services should get upgraded to version 3.63.16003.0 and Xbox should be version 2203.1001.1.0. Load the Xbox app back up and you should notice a slight UI change. Load up Destiny 2 and you should be back in business from here. The title screen will finally load up and you’ll be able to go to your character selection screen from there. Hopefully, Microsoft will push this fix to the regular Xbox app and Gaming Services soon, as I know not everyone likes running beta software. March 2022 has proven to be a huge month for Xbox Game Pass, with Microsoft adding numerous day one games to the service and set to add even more in the next couple of weeks. There are at least nine more games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the next two weeks, but while new games are added to the lineup every month, it's true too that some games are removed every month as well. Microsoft has now confirmed four more games that are leaving Xbox Game Pass in the near future, with three of those titles getting the boot on March 31 and one of them set to leave in April. March 31 will be the last day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Madden NFL 20, Narita Boy, and Shadow Warrior 2. The removal of Madden NFL 20 may not sting all that much when one considers that Madden NFL 21 and Madden NFL 22 are both available to play with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate anyway, but it may still be disappointing to some subscribers. Destiny 2 and its expansions were removed from the console version of Game Pass a few months ago, but now PC gamers will have to part ways with it as well. Destiny 2 on PC Game Pass included the base game, Beyond Light, Forsaken, and Shadowkeep, so its departure means PC Game Pass is losing a significant amount of content. Since Microsoft usually announces Xbox Game Pass removals every two weeks, some may be scratching their heads as to why it decided to announce Destiny 2 leaving PC Game Pass so far in advance. However, it's worth pointing out that Microsoft gave fans extra notice when it removed Destiny 2 from the console version of Game Pass as well. It's likely that Microsoft recognizes Destiny 2 as a popular Game Pass game and by giving fans extra time to prepare for its removal, it can avoid some potential backlash. Anyone that wants to keep Destiny 2 on PC or the other games leaving Xbox Game Pass this next month can purchase the games at a discount for a limited time. Every Xbox Game Pass game is available at a 20% discount for those that want to buy them to keep, though that offer will expire once their removal dates come around, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers keep that in mind. Another reason why you might experience this issue is when GamePass is not permitted to launch games while your PC is not connected to the internet. In order to be able to do this, the app needs offline permissions.
