Chrysler 300 keys locked in car

I'm just curious , I got out at the Post Office the other day and almost locked
my FOB in my 300 { engine was off } . I decided to test this after i got home
where i could access the spare FOB . It did in fact lock it in the car with no
way to get back in the car . Is there something that can be changed in the
settings  to eliminate this ? also if you get out of the car with the FOB on you
, the is no alarm to let you know that the FOB has left the car ( again just a
test because I do not leave my car running and walk off )

I just popped my hatch to get something out of my toolbox and left my only set of keys inside 2014 Chrysler 300. is there an easy way to get them out? all doors of 2014 Chrysler 300 are locked, fortunately I am at home and can provide ownership information if that is a problem.Do you have roadside assistance on your auto insurance? If not, call a locksmith or one of those pop a lock people
The Focus is pretty break in proof, unless the window is broke.

Call a locksmith, but be prepared to bend your door back into shape. Locksmiths will use a pump up tool and a wedge to pull the door from the body so they can reach a tool inside to unlock your 2014 Chrysler 300
Now if you had a GM a slim jim would work, but you’d have to deal with the easy steal features of a GM.
If you want to DIY, all you have to do is pull the top of the door away from the body. Like I mentioned earlier, locksmiths will use a plastic wedge first to pull the door out a bit at the top, then they use a pump up wedge to open it further without damaging paint. If I were you, I’d use a wood wedge- assuming you have 2×4’s around to help hold the top of the door open, then use a coat hanger to sneak in and push the power door lock. If you do it, open the opposite side that you have wedged, and then remove the wedge before opening that door to limit any bind damage on that latch. You might even have better luck pushing the hatch release button since the sill at the top of the 2014 Chrysler 300 door is designed to prevent easy access.

I am a AAA locksmith. You can go about it three ways. The long rod (extension tool) can be used like everone has said with the wedge in the door..its a lot easier to pull the handle back than the lock mech itself. If you have a tool that is intended to go inside the 2014 Chrysler 300 and come up threw the inside of the window you can also use this, and open the handle. You only need to open the handle about 1/4 of the way then it will unlock. Wish i was in IL man. The only tool that will work inside the actual door is a tool that is shaped like an L (L tool) and that is almost impossible to get, unless your lucky. If you want to try the L the mechanism inside the door is right below the handle about 6 inches..close to the back of the door. you have to fiddle it around until you find the Bellcrank…you then twist it clockwise. The last way is the hardest.

call the local police non-emergancy line and ask if they provide lockout assitance.

what does your lock out kit have in 2014 Chrysler 300? if its the slim-jim dont even try it. you can break the lock or worse if you dont do it right and then your screwed.
lock pics will not work.
if you have the long metal bar (not a flat piece, thats the slim-jim) and a wedge of some sort than you can pull the top of the door back and use the wedge to give you about an inch (enough room to get the bar through). once the bar is in you can hit the lock botton if you have power locks or try and push the manual lock. you can also try and pull the handle.
ive locked my keys in the car 6 times this year so ive gotten good at this. it would be a good idea to go to the dealer where you got the 2014 Chrysler 300 and ask if they will make you a key w/o the cip. i got one for free and its thin so i leave it in my wallet.

Chrysler 300 keys locked in car

Locked keys in the car 3rd

Moderator: Moderators

Tuesday, I locked my keys in my car for the 3rd time. Very hard to do in a 300M, but I still manage. Anyone else do this on occassion?

actually I have a non-sentry key hidden on the outside of the car just to be sure I never do thisthe key will unlock the car but not allow it to be driven

Ever since I had my 70 Challenger I trained myself to lock the door with keys. I do carry the fob on a seperate key chain too, as double protection. I have yet to be locked out in the past 25 years.

Great ideas. I am going to cut a door key blank without the transponder so that I can get into the car. I will keep it in my wallet.

I always lock it with the remote. Thereby I have to have it with me ;) Usually, when I'm walking away from the car. Just listen for the chirp...

Car no, house yes. Real fun trying to "break down" a door with out tearing it up!In 1990, my Mitsubishi came with an extra credit car key (plastic key that folds out of a credit card), which I thought was a great idea. Dave'02 Special

I had the key duplicated and keep it in my wallet. The extra transmitter is kept at the house so if in case I forgot my keys inside the car and the wallet also, :hammer I am still SAFE! :nolike

On cold mornings I start my engine and go back inside the house a couple of minutes before I'm ready to leave for work. Twice, I have inadvertently hit the lock button on the fob when I turned the key to start the engine. It was only after I discovered that I locked the keys in with the engine running that I remember hearing the sound of the locks as I turned the key. Fortunately, I *was* at home, and the extra set of keys in the house came in very handy. I do need to get a key for the wallet.

Bill - I do the same thing (turning the car on in the mornings - not locking myself out :lol ) since it's been in the single digits. However, I have a splitting keyring with the key (and house key) on one side, the fob (and mailbox ;) on the other. I turn on the car, separate them, then lock the car as I walk away.btw - don't forget to turn on the seats then too ;)

i have only been locked out once and it wasn't my fault.someone else was in the car and got out and puched the door lock down without getting the key. in her defense she was sleeping and didnt know she had the keys.good thing the sun roof was cracked open a bit, i used a stik to get in.we were way out in the boonies too.

Just get one of those quick release key chains. you can then just disconnect only the key you need, the rest and the fobs stay with you.

Buy a non-sentry key only unlocks doors no ignition chip for $7 and make sure it has the plastic coating on the end where you put the keyring through. Then open up your gas fill lid and slip it inside the bracket that holds the door open. There is just enough space between the bracket and lid that the key won't just slip and fall out on the ground. But you have to have the plastic end or it will slip through. I know some of you will think I'm crazy for putting it there. I live in a small town and have never worried about it. Always pump my own gas which seems to be another discussion on this board. I looked for a place to put one of those magnetic key holders and found nothing unless possibly crawling clear underneath the car and really don't want to do that. My brother-in- law showed me this trick and he lives in a major city and has never had a problem. Just so you all know I have never locked the keys in but my wife is pretty regular about doing it and this was a great solution.

you almost stole my key storage ideaI wrapped the non-sentry keyhead in electrical tape and it fits perfectly in that slot on the gas tank cover

now all the thiefs can just check the gas tank door for the keysure they cant steal the car, but they can take everything out of it.

I locked myself out just once. Luckily I have AAA and they opened it in short order. But I was holding my breath as they pried the top and side edges of the door open so they could inset their lift lever into the opening. I guess on our Ms the narrow jimmy bar won't work.

Well, I guess now we know why Chrysler doesn't lock the gas tank. :f :bsmile I cut a non senty key on Saturday for my wallet. I had a friend that recieved a set of those plastic keys for her M when she bought it. The only problem was the plastic keys they gave her were for a Ford. Thanks for all the replies on this topic.

This problem will undoubtly get worse with future Chrysler products. In the Pacifica that I rented for three weeks recently, the key and fob are one piece. The top of the key being a large plastic triangle with the lock, unlock, panic and hatch release buttons all integrated into it. I constantly found myself pressing one of the buttons when I would turn the ignition. Usually, it was the hatch button, but a couple of times, it was the lock button. Fortunately I realized it before I got out and shut the door. According to the dealer, this is the format that all new DC vehicle keys will follow going forward. At least that big (CENSORED) grille on the 300 should yield a bunch of hiding places for extra keys. BTW, I'm still trying to figure how you lock your keys in an M if they are in the ignition....unless they are pulled out just a little to stop the chime. The only way I can lock the keys in mine is if someone else is already in the car to lock the doors.

I remember when I used to work at a hardware store and GM came out with their V.A.T.S. key. The key with the resistor chip in the side. People were coming in because the chips were falling out of the key, leaving them straded. It has gotten worse to try to get an electronic key duplicated at your local hardware store. A plastic headed key now needs to be tested to see if it has a chip in it. If it does, an additional key can only be added to some car models if you already have 2 existing and working electronic keys unless the HW store has a special coding computer. Their are some keys now that you have no choice but to go to the dealer to get duplicates. An electronic key is just something else to go wrong on the car.As for locking the my keys in the ignition, when I do it is usually because I have the keys pulled out just enough to disable the door chime and the anti-lock your keys in the ignition feature. It is hard to lock your keys in the ignition of a 300m but it seems to be easy for a Polish guy like me to do. :doh

After reading this thread last Tuesday, I had a door key made for the M. I have been paranoid for 3-1/2 years about locking myself out. Well, last Thursday, I went into the garage to leave for work and lo & behold:LOCKED UP.Immediate panic feeling.WAIT, I have a KEY!!!!Thanks Guys. Isn't this club GREAT! :doh

This club is great. I don't think Camry owners have this much fun. I am glad my misfortune has helped a few people. :bsmile

How do you unlock a car that has keys inside?

An option for getting into your car if your keys are locked in it is to have a locksmith make a new key for the car. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to provide the VIN or Vehicle Identification Number to the locksmith. Using the VIN, the locksmith will be able to make a new key that will fit the lock.

Can you unlock a car with the key fob inside?

With your key fob locked in the car, there are three primary solutions. You can move the working key toward a sensor location, manipulate the interior door switches/buttons, or call a locksmith. Doing the work yourself requires tools and time, so if you do not have both, contact a locksmith.
