Not trying to hate on the big guys/gal out there (I am 6'2 200lbs), but I was wondering if a very large person lets say 300 pounds plus can cause any damage to the vehicle in terms of vehicle suspension and seats. I have earlier posted complaint of the c300 seats saying it seems to be inadequately padded. Now I think most likely the seats lost its padding is due to a previous overweight owner. Also, I noticed on the bottom of the steering there were scratch marks on it, so I think maybe the large owner had to squeeze himself into the seats and probably his belt buckle kept rubbing against the bottom part of the steering causing the marks. What else damage do you think a fat guy can cause 11-22-2012, 10:13 AMSenior Member

I would say your suspension is fine considering you have more than 300lbs in the car if you had a passenger or two with you often. The seat can definitely deteriorate with a large person constantly sliding in and out of the car. If the car is still under warranty I'd take it to the dealer and see if they are willing to put a new seat in. I noticed my drivers seat is starting to tear on the front of the seat bottom and they are putting a whole new seat in my car on Monday. You'll never know if you don't ask! Good luck 11-22-2012, 10:37 AMMember Thread Starter

But I am a little worried that the brand new seat will stand out to remaining aged interior. I am thinking bout getting the seat padding replaced rather than the whole seat. Has anyone done this before? 11-22-2012, 05:03 PMMBWorld Fanatic!

The side bolsters and bottom pads will be flatter than normal...Id opt for a new seat. 11-22-2012, 09:46 PMMember Thread Starter

Did you not even consider that maybe 2 person doing a lot of naughty things made that seat flat and steering wheel scratched....just a thought. Can too much weight in a car cause damage?Overloading Your Vehicle Affects Others
Too much weight can damage the roads, pavement and bridges, and taxpayers foot the bill.
How much weight is too much for a car?If you regularly exceed 850 pounds, most cars will begin to show signs of worn tires, poor suspension, and worn brakes. Even one time of overloading can have consequences: for instance, if you overload your car to take a summer road trip, you increase your risks of a tire blowout.
How much weight can I have in my car?On average, most cars, trucks, and SUVs can carry only about 165 pounds.
