Itinerary

We’ll start by making our way to the Jenolan Caves, an important natural heritage spot in this region. You’ll get to enjoy a guided tour through the cave system, passing through the magnificent Grand Arch and journeying deep underground. Admire the unique stalagmites and stalactites that have formed over thousands of years as you explore Australia’s largest limestone cave system.

After you have worked up an appetite wandering underground, grab some lunch at one of the Jenolan Caves dining options.

Following lunch, we’ll head to Blue Lake to spot some platypus in the surrounding landscapes. The platypus is a unique and notoriously elusive mammal so make sure you have your camera ready for this amazing experience!

Next up we’ll travel to another highlight of the day – the spectacular Blue Mountains! Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Three Sisters and the surrounding Jamison Valley from Echo Point lookout. You will also have the chance to visit Scenic World (at own expense).

We’ll end the day by travelling back to Sydney and arriving back in the city in time for dinner.

How many days do you need in Blue Mountains?

How long do you need to explore the Blue Mountains? Keen bushwalkers can easily find enough to do here to stay for a week! For me, a 2 or 3-day visit is ideal, but if you don't have the luxury of time, then one day is still a great option.

Can you visit Jenolan Caves without a tour?

Pre-Booking is mandatory at Jenolan. Because our cave tour tickets are very limited, pre-booking is mandatory. Before allowing arrivals into the valley, you must show us your pre-booked tickets for either cave tours or dining. Or if you are staying overnight, we need to see confirmation.
