Set up Amazon Alexa or other Amazon devices now with the new Fitbit Versa 2 devices, it is now possible.

Have you ever wanted to check your Fitbit devices to see how many steps you have taken, but had your hands busy washing dishes? Or maybe, you were preparing breakfast and wanted to know how you slept the night before. For this and other similar situations you can use Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, and get the information without checking your Fitbit.

Here are some steps to link Amazon Alexa with Fitbit:

All you have to do is link your Fitbit with the Amazon Alexa application and say: ‘Alexa, ask Fitbit’ and then indicate some of the different Fitbit data options. Immediately, your smart device will read the requested information aloud.

Follow these steps to synchronize your Fitbit with Alexa and an Echo speaker.

Add Fitbit to the Amazon Alexa app

  1. Start by saying: ‘Alexa, link my Fitbit‘. If you use an Android device, click here if you don’t have the application yet. If you have a smartphone with IOS, click here to start enjoying Alexa.
  2. Open your Amazon Alexa application.
  3. Touch the three lines located in the upper left corner.
  4. Touch ‘Skills and games’, then select the ‘My skills‘ tab. Also, when you ask Alexa to connect to a device, this information is stored in the ‘My skills‘ tab so you can finish the configuration.
  5. Select Fitbit in the list and touch ‘Settings‘.
  6. Select ‘Link account‘ and enter the email address and password associated with your Fitbit.
  7. Check all the boxes of the information you want Alexa to access, and leave unchecked those you want to keep private.

Now you can get your Fitbit statistics without looking at your wrist.

What can I ask Alexa about my Fitbit?

Depending on the boxes you have selected, these are some of the things you can ask Alexa:

“Alexa, ask Fitbit how I’m doing today.”

“Alexa, ask Fitbit how many steps I’ve taken.”

“Alexa, ask Fitbit how many calories I’ve burned.”

“Alexa, ask Fitbit how I slept last night.”

“Alexa, ask Fitbit what my resting heart rate is.”

Best Apple Watch apps 2022: Apps to download that actually do something By Britta O'Boyle · 22 June 2022

These are the best Apple Watch apps we've come across - the ones that hold their own on the smaller screen and deliver the information you need.

You can check for weather updates and get quick answers to pretty much any question. For example, you could ask Alexa how much protein is in an egg and the Versa 2's display will tell you there is 13 grams of protein per hundred grams, or 6 grams in one raw egg.

You can use your voice to control Alexa-compatible smart home devices, such as speakers, lights or a thermostat. For example, if you have a Nest Learning Thermostat, you can ask Alexa to turn the temperature up.

You will need to set up Alexa skills for each compatible smart home device, as well as any other specific integrations you might want to use, such as asking Alexa to order you an Uber or asking Alexa to add carrots to your Ocado shopping order, for example.

To set up Alexa skills, follow the instructions below:

  1. Download the Amazon Alexa app
  2. Sign into your Amazon account, or create a new account
  3. Follow the setup instructions
  4. Tap on the three lines in the top left of the Amazon Alexa app once setup
  5. Tap on 'Skills & Games'
  6. Tap on the Search icon in the top right corner
  7. Search for the integration you want to setup, such as Ikea Home Smart
  8. Tap on the integration if listed
  9. Tap on 'Enable to Use'
  10. Follow the instructions to link your accounts

Does Alexa Talk back on fitbit versa 2?

While users can talk to Alexa on the Versa 2, the voice assistant cannot respond by audio as there is no speaker in the watch. Instead, it pulls up visual responses to requests. Alexa can still perform most of the tasks it does on an Echo smart speaker such as checking the news and weather.
